Vehicle Description
This meticulous 1st generation two owner 924 has been garaged and Dealer serviced since new! Ordered in Grand Prix White with tan interior, 5 speed, Leather Sport 4 spoke steering wheel, Sunroof (manually tilt or remove), Air Conditioning, Power/Heated Mirrors, and Spoke type Light Alloy Wheels, that were Dealer upgraded to the Turbo wheels you see. They also installed the Blaupunkt stereo radio. Fortunately, the owner also had it rustproofed before it left the dealers lot, and it, as well as his heated garage, and diligent waxing, have kept it in as new condition as I have seen on any 4 cylinder Porsche in over 30 years! These 924's were a new breed for Porsche in 1976, but became the new benchmark for handling in the 80's, and beyond. The balance provided by the front engine, rear trans axle, (52% F - 48% R ), allowed this car to out run many more powerful cars of the era on the track, and street. It's balance was unequaled by anything on the road, except of course it's V-8 big brother the 928. Designed by Harm Lagay, a Dutch automobile designer that worked for Porsche from 1971-1977. He later returned to Porsche in 1989 as head of the design team, and oversaw the design of the 968, 993, Boxster, Cayenne, 996, and the Carrera GT, until retirement in 2004. This one, the 381st one built in the US production run of 3,700 in 1980 is in outrageously fine condition. You can be proud to own it, and excited to drive it!. After all, it is the mother of the 944, 944S-2, 944 turbo, and the 968! Every book, service record, tool kit, spare, jack, tire compressor, from new, even the window sticker! Own a fine piece of history!
