Used 1983 Mercedes-Benz 300CD for sale in Tebbetts, MO

Shown is a classic two door full coupe style auto, it has a 5 cyl, diesel engine with exhaust powered turbo charger, something MB did not make a lot of, and most of them stayed in Europe. Most of the gas engine versions of this car have long since have expired, and now it seems only the diesel versions are still on the road and still running according to MB data. This 300CD has always been garaged and still is, by myself and also the previous owner, absolutely no rust, dents, fading or accidents ever. The original paint still sparkles like new, all original MB equipment on the car, right down to the first aid kit in the rear window deck. This vehicle has everything operational in it, maintained by MB dealers mostly and only MB parts were ever put on the car, right down to the radiators hose clamps also. The nickname MB had for this car back in the day was "Coffee & Tobacco" referring to the color scheme of the car. The engine runs perfectly, has 180,000 miles on it and is a true highway car. It has cruised all day at 70+ MPH with no effort at all, and all the while getting about 26 - 28 MPG on fuel, still has a very remarkable easy and smooth ride, handles like a sports car really no dip or sway in turns at all (beats the hell out of a Jag E Type that I used to own). There are no fluid leaks to speak of either weather, coolant or oils, its just an outstanding Sunday driver car, that turns heads and looks sharp. MB classic 123 couple chassis for the 300CD had only 278 model’s total were imported in the USA in 1983-4, over 65% were gasoline engine cars. As they came with two engines, gas and diesel, not very many gasoline engine 300D's still operational in the US. MB made 1100 of these cars total in 1983, only 400 or so came to the USA, of those 45% were diesels. It has wonderful comfort on the road, and is a joy to drive. Steering is responsive and quick (true rack & pinion), brakes are excellent, and this is the car you wish to go on vacation with. Battery and tires have less than a 3000 miles on them, The interior is this car is all fine leather and polished wood trim, and has no holes, rips or tears or even any visible wear anywhere on them. It very well could use some new floor mats, would be all you need to drive it off like the day it left the dealer in 1983. As a traditional type of auto owner, I have searched for some original 83 mats (small rug mats with MB logo in them), and am still looking. There are many that will fit the car, but in my quest to keep everything absolutly MB has probably been beaten after 8 yrs of searching Ebay. This auot has climate control heating and A/C, load leveling suspension, even the first aid kit in the rear boot has original bandages and things in it. I have been told by Mercedes Benz that this car model probably has less that 25 models registered to drive in the USA and Canada. I do expect that it might be one of very few in the US that have never been modified, wrecked, or restored, or abused. I have just added a second wave of photographs, mostly of the interior and some under car shots also (those are more difficult). After looking under the car and seeing all the road grime and dirt under it, its now off for detailing in that area. This car always dreaws a crowd no matter where you park it people check it out always, its has won 3rd place in a MO show car competition for original import vehicles, the only show its ever been in. All the running gear is in perfect shape, and even though it lived a lot of its life in the garage here, was never a fear to taking off with it on a couple thousand mile vacation trip at all. Its just a joy to drive. I have been told by an automobile broker that it’s a good probability that this 300CD could easily be worth in the low 6 figures in the near future, if it’s kept in this prime condition until then. He stated two major reasons why, first there are very few of them (he believes lots less than MB stated), and its since its considered a classic Mercedes Benz style of the 80’s, that does not have the extended shock bumpers that came later.
