Vehicle Description
Many have heard of the El Camino but don't realize that GMC also created a car/truck combo of their very own and called it the Caballero. These classic trucks look very similar to the El Caminos but you don't see as many of them around. In 1984 approximately 27,000 El Caminos were produced but only 2,700 Caballeros. This 84 is known as the rare Diablo edition and is in great condition. Inside and out this classic shows very little signs of use. It is a 3 owner that has been accident and smoke free its entire life. It has received 1 repaint where it was sanded down to bare metal and repainted in its original two tone Maroon color. The finish looks great and is accented by all of the original style trim pieces and new chrome bumpers. A lot of money was invested in the restoration process and the condition is almost better than new. In the rear a Gaylord bed cover ($1,500 add on) was added which not only works well for keeping your stuff protected but improves the exterior look as well. It rides on the original GMC rally wheels which are in good shape and wrapped with new BF Goodrich tires. The truck originally featured a 305 motor but it has been upgraded with a crate 350. The engine starts up well and runs strong. Multiple new components were added including a new water pump, alternator, compressor, coil, dryer and hoses. It was also converted from R12 to R134a so when it comes time to charge the AC it is a simple process that could be done at home. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and was completely rebuilt in the process of replacing the motor. The brakes were also entirely gone through with a new master and wheel cylinders. The front end is all new with the ball joints, tie rods and shocks being replaced. The truck has a nice rumble which is provided by the new Trust mufflers, tail pipes and exhaust tips. The interior is in excellent shape and features all leather upholstery. It is done in maroon to match the exterior and the seats, carpet, door panels, dash, and headliner were clearly well cared for. The original gauges are all in place and everything on the truck works. The windows have been professionally tinted dark. A new pioneer Bluetooth stereo with rear speakers has been added and the removed original AM/FM radio with cassette player will be included. It has all of the power options including: power windows, power brakes, and power door locks. A Prestige security system has been added including remote keyless entry. For Texas registration purposes the Caballero qualifies as an antique and is eligible for the inexpensive classic car insurance. The vehicle has approximately 105,000 miles with 6,300 since the 2016 restoration. This is one cool classic that gives you the low down profile of a car combined with an always useful truck bed.
