Vehicle Description
This 1984 Mercedes-Benz 380SL Roadster is finished in Midnight Blue over Tan with 85,113 miles and working A/C and original front windshield with original stickers and markings. This car has the European Square duel headlights as seen in the photos. The car remains largely original with the exception of the aftermarket Pioneer stereo head-unit is installed in the factory location and a CD changer mounted in the trunk. The original AM FM cassette stereo comes with the car and can be reinstalled and is in good working order. The factory 3.8L V8 engine has been converted to dual timing chains and the automatic transmission is in good working order. The sale includes Factory literature some service records and a original First Aid kit and factory tool kit, a clean Carfax, and a clean Virginia title. The R107 SL was built from 1971 to 1989 and this example shows well for its age. The paint retains good shine from all angles. The body is in very good condition with tight panel gaps and all trim in place. The Carfax is free of any accidents or reported issues. The body is free of rust. The factory hard top is in good shape with clean glass and trim. The fabric soft top is also in nice condition with clear plastic windows and a good fit. The interior has held up well over the past 35 years. It is clean throughout and free of notable flaws. Front carpeting is also clean and is protected by color-matched floor mats. The carpeting behind the seats is similarly well-preserved. The factory wood inlays on the center console shows some cracking which is detailed in the gallery below. Instrumentation and electrics are in proper working order. The aftermarket Pioneer CD head-unit and power antenna are working condition. The A/C was serviced in July 2019 and blows cold. The center vents andside vents work properly. The original 3.8L V8 remains in place and has been upgraded with a dual timing chain to address a known weakness of this engine. The car is in nice running condition. These motors produced around 155 horsepower and 196 lb-ft. of torque when new. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly through each gear. Work performed includes a new idle speed control unit, A/C serviced, new center muffler and pipes , rear differential fluid change, transmission filter and fluid changed, and an engine oil and filter changed, Drive belts replaced and four new tires replaced May 2019. The car run and drive well with good power at speed, tight suspension, and responsive brakes.
