Ten years after Ferrari launched the 308 GTB at the Paris Show, the company gave the model a performance boost in the guise of the 328 GTB and 328 GTS. The original Pininfarinadesign was carried over from its predecessor but included subtle changes from the carrozzeria. The effect was both aesthetic and an improvement in overall aerodynamic characteristics. The car's body was still built by the coach builder Scagliettiworks.

While mechanically still based on the 308, modifications were made to the body, chassis, and engine, most notably an increase in engine displacement to 3.2 L for increased power and torque output. The 328 is still considered by some enthusiasts to be one of the most reliable and functional Ferraris; unlike other models, much of its maintenance can be performed without lowering the engine from the vehicle.

With 41,883 miles and finished in Nero over a leather Beige interior this amazing 328 retains its original features. Delivered in New York City, this Ferrari has an extensive maintenance record with factory interval recommended services performed by Ferrari’s dealers from 1986 to 2005 and duly registered on the Owner’s Manual. In 2009, the car was acquired by a renowned collector with 41,700 miles on the odometer and was placed on storage as part of his collection of over 100 cars. A major service was performed in 2020, covering fuel filter replacement, oil change, new oil filter, and battery as well as cooling and braking system flushing. In the engine, the typical Ferrari service was performed, including cam belts, belts, and tensioner bearings replacement.

The body and the Nero painting are in excellent order showing no signs of corrosion. The original Nero paint (except for a hood respray) presents consistent measurements compatible with factory original and preserved car. There is no trace or indication of accidents, and the panels fit is excellent all around, with bumpers, trim and original glasses remaining in perfect order. The original removable Targa top remains in excellent condition, with good exterior covering and original headlining. The immaculate wheels are wrapped in the correct Goodyear Eagle rubber.

Opening the door with those signature door handles reveals an excellent original interior. The tan leather is exquisite showing no fading rips or tears, attesting that the car was kept indoors and has seen limited sun exposure. Likewise, the leather covered dash and console are in great condition, with the only deviation from standard being the addition of an Alpine system and period correct escort radar detector system – a nice collector item. The mid V8 engine with 3.2 liters and 270 hp runs superbly and is matted to the precise-shifting 5-speed transmission, consistent with an original car.

The sale includes the original books and manuals, as well as the desirably and complete tool kit in the original roll, along with the jack in it proper bag.
