Vehicle Description
History The BMW 7 Series was a full-size luxury sedan produced by the German automaker BMW since 1977. The 7 Series was BMW's flagship car and was only available as a sedan (including long wheelbase and limousine models). It traditionally introduces technologies and exterior design themes before they trickle down to other models in BMW's lineup. The first generation 7 Series was powered by straight-6 petrol engines, and following generations have been powered by inline-4, straight-6, V8 and V12 engines with both natural aspiration and turbocharging. The 1989 BMW 750 IL we have at Skyway Classics is powered by one of those V12 engines! It was purchased to use the driveline in an old roadster project that never got off the ground. Features & Options This BMW 750 IL is a rolling project car that does drive and run and has a title also. It has many standard features like Electronic Damper Control, V12 engine, double glazing, the CAN bus electronic protocol, Xenon headlamps, traction control and dual-zone climate control. It has, factory sunroof, CD player, cellular telephone and 440-watt 14-speaker AM/FM/CD/cassette stereo, one-touch express feature for the windows, moonroof, bucket seat interior with the outboard positions that have individual heating elements, and ducts on the rear of the center console ship both warm and cool air to the aft quarters. The back glass features an electric sunshade while the rear side windows feature manually operated screens. Making 322 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 361 pound-feet of torque at 3900 rpm, the 750iL's 5.4-liter SOHC V-12 is still in the car. It is paired with a ZF five-speed automatic transmission, it was tested and propels the 4553-pound from zero to 60 mph in a mere 6.4 seconds and through the quarter mile in 14.7 ticks at 98.3 mph according to car magazine road test of the time. The manual mode, which selects and holds a gear, or the Sport mode, which engages a more aggressive shift program. It has fat tires on 168.0-inch forged alloy rims teamed with vehicle-speed-sensitive recirculating-ball power steering, and huge ABS-abetted vented discs on each corner. Availability The BMW 750iL is precisely the kind of car that makes being rich seem worthwhile. It's a lotto-drawing four-door fantasy, to be sure. But for a lucky few, this dream can come true. It can be restored by you to the status it once held, or the driveline can be used in another project car, the choice is yours. Come see it at Skyway Classics and decide.
