Used 1989 Ferrari Testarossa for sale in Kingston, MA

If you are a child of the 1980’s then surely a poster of a “Rosso Corsa'' Ferrari Testarossa was on your bedroom wall. One of the most recognizable, if not iconic automotive designs of the 80’s, this prancing horse has what it takes to back up its looks. Making it’s debut at the 1984 Paris auto show, the Testarossa was to succeed the fantastic Berlinetta Boxer lineup. In order to improve on the outgoing BBi, Ferrari fitted the Testarossa with a more advanced electronic fuel injection and four valve cylinder heads. Not only did this help the Testarossa meet more stringent U.S. emissions standards; (that the BBi could not) but it also managed to increase horsepower and torque to 385 and 361, respectively. Not massive numbers by today’s standards, but with the slick-shifting 5-speed manual gearbox still good for a 5 second sprint to 60 mph, and a 13.5 second quarter mile run. That is good enough to run with your friends’ new Rolls-Royce Phantom.at only 1⁄3 the price! And what about those looks? Well form follows function, especially in this case. On the BB cars the water radiators were mounted in the nose of the car. That led to zero luggage space, and hot water pipes running the length of the cockpit, heating it up. The solution came when Emmanuelle Nicosia of Pininfarina moved the radiators aft of the driver’s compartment. This design element is why the rear of a Testarossa is almost six inches wider than the front. The side strakes are functional, directing airflow in and letting bystanders know you have arrived!
