Vehicle Description
1989 Saab 900 Turbo Convertible These sedate looking Saabs are actually quite the performers armed with a 16 valve, dohc, 2.0L 4cyl, turbocharged engine, they put out 175HP, respectable for the day. They were acclaimed for fairly good handling as well. This particular Turbo is a convertible but will need some help to get back out under the sunny skies. The current owner has had her since the early 90's and drove her regularly until about 4 years ago when a starter problem sent her into the garage. When she came out of the garage, she wouldn't start. The mechanic and owner of the garage was an older chap and this owner was ticked off that his running car was now, not... He had the car towed home and that is where it has sat since. The problem, I discovered upon my inspection, is that the flywheel/flexplate is broken and just spins freely (as seen in the supplied video), it is no longer attached to the engine crank. She will also need tires and a right side ball joint. The car has 186,000 miles on it and overall is in pretty good shape for sitting outside under a car cover the last 4 years. The body panels are straight and still shine with just a simple wash off. The interior will need work as will the driver floor, where CT tinworm has taken up residence, a small area of infestation is present behind/under the passenger door too. The top was installed, brand new, just before the car went into the garage that dreaded day 4 years ago and is still in near new condition. The car has AC, heated seats, PS, PB, Power mirrors and Power windows (the driver side needs adjustment and the passenger side needs a switch or the switch needs to be cleaned up.), Alpine stereo (the original stereo is with the car) and cruise control. The owner was planning on going with all black Euro look and removed all the trim and had removed several of the emblems, they are all present with the car, along with some new wood interior trim and a new hard, boot cover. It would be great to see this SAAB fly again. The owner is asking $3000 or best offer for the car. Any questions, to make an offer or to see the car in person, please don't hesitate to contact me. Thank you for the interest.
