Used 1996 Chevrolet Corvette for sale in Mooresville, NC
Vehicle Description
By 1996, the C4 generation of the Corvette was coming to an end after 12 years of production. Because the C4 received many updates over the years, the first and last year models are almost completely different cars. When comparing the last of the C4s to the first of the C5s, it is very apparent in what direction the Corvette was headed.
This 1996 Corvette Collector's Edition has a lot of great things going for it! From condition to performance, there is nothing to dislike about this vehicle. The exterior is in excellent original condition; exactly the condition one would expect for a 40,000 mile car that has seen nothing but care and maintenance. Sitting on a set of C5 wheels, at first glance this C4 may easily be mistaken for a C5. The paint and top are both in excellent condition. LED tail lights have been added for both safety and an updated look, as well as improved headlights and marker lights.
The interior is in equally immaculate condition with minimal defects and wear consistent only with casual, infrequent use. Additionally, being a final-year C4 this car has perhaps the most refined interior available in a C4 and is equipped with airbags. It is hard to believe that this car was based on a 12 year old design! The seats are comfortable and everything works as it should. This Corvette is also equipped with the passive keyless entry system, which for 1996 was incredible technology. This system allows you to both lock and unlock the car without doing anything other than having the key fob nearby; the car automatically locks and unlocks as your proximity to the vehicle either increases or decreases. This system is working exactly as it should, and is a neat feature to have in a 23-year-old car.
Under the hood is a 5.7 liter LT-4 V8 hooked up to a six-speed ZF manual transmission. This LT-4 is the same engine used in Corvette Grand Sports of the same model year. The 330 horsepower LT-4 coupled with the ZF six-speed are cause for some to consider this a Grand Sport in disguise; a car that will deliver similar performance for less money-serious bang for your buck!
If you would prefer this Corvette in its original condition, with the factory wheels and lights, it could easily be reverted as there have only been bolt-on cosmetic changes made to this car. If you're after a low-mileage, well-preserved future classic this could be the car for you! While it would make a worthy addition to a collection of any size, to quote a 1996 MotorTrend article: "Just don't let us hear that you've got one of these road weapons polybagged in an Arizona garage. This car was made to be driven."
