The Plymouth Prowler was produced for a short time between 1997-2002. Looking like an escaped concept car, it set the bar for head turning automotive design and was easily one of the most unique vehicles to ever come out of Detroit. Designed to look like a modern take on a classic 30's hot rod, the Prowler looks amazing on the road or just sitting still. This example is painted Prowler Red with the optional polished chrome wheels. The long hood and short deck are classic sports car design cues, and the offset wheel sizing and low slung stance give the Prowler a very sinister look. Inside are a gorgeous pair of leather covered buckets, unique painted gauge surround, AM/FM cassette stereo with 6-disc CD changer, and cold air conditioning. A steering wheel mounted tachometer gives the Prowler a real hot rod look, and reminds you that you are behind the wheel of something very special. Under the long hood sits Chrysler's 3.5L SOHC V-6 borrowed from the Chrysler 300M. Producing 253hp and combined with the Prowlers low 2,800lb. curb weight, this combination made for sub 6 second 0-60 times and through the quarter mile in 14.9 seconds. Power is routed through a rear mounted 4-speed trans-axle with "Autostick". This was Chrysler's version of a manually shift-able automatic transmission. Pull the lever back to S, and toggle the lever left and right to up or down shift the transmission. This feature lent the Prowler the feel of a manual sports car without the clutch pedal. The ride is well controlled and the steering feel is very sporty. This is a well loved and cared for, low mileage future collectible.
