Vehicle Description
Immaculately maintained and rarely driven, this documented Camaro SS wraps a hot LS1 and stout Tremec 6-speed in slick Navy and Ebony aesthetics. And if you're in the market for a solid long-term investment, a clean piece of GM history, or just a quick car with a unique look, it's your kind of classic! FAR BEYOND TRADITIONAL RED Garaged and pampered since rolling off GM's Sainte Therese, Quebec assembly line, this awesome Camaro spent its early life in the skilled hands of a GM technician. Its current North Carolina owner, who found the car while living in Michigan, had originally set his heart on a second generation F-Body. But once he and his wife stumbled upon this documented coupe, they decided it was simply too nice to pass up! Knowing how hard it's becoming to find a clean 4th gen Camaro, especially a top-option SS, he decided to make the purchase without even haggling. But, unfortunately, a relocation has left them with no room for their modern classic. Like us, you probably remember when Navy Blue Metallic debuted on the Camaro; and we're sure you'll agree that it's certainly one of the car's best colors. At the leading edge of this coupe's factory-original pigment, one of the most aggressive faces Chevrolet ever produced hangs factory-fresh headlights above an ornate header emblem, HID fog lamps and an optional, "SS" branded grille. Behind that grille, a composite ram air hood centers a black inlay in front of a factory Solar Ray greenhouse that's capped by optional T-tops. Beneath that glass, sporty "SS" emblems provide excellent contrast to body-matched door moldings and color-keyed mirrors. And at the back of the car, an SS-exclusive spoiler frames tri-color taillights, a third "SS" emblem and a bright red bowtie. THE LS COMETH Under the SLP-supplied bonnet, a Gen III LS1 V8 combines a sturdy aluminum block with lightweight aluminum heads, coil-near-plug ignition and aluminum flat-top pistons to twist a solid 325 horsepower into 350 lb./ft. of Kansas-flat torque. At the top of the engine, trick SLP induction feeds a factory-spec throttle body, which is bolted to a lightweight, composite intake. High octane fossils are provided by GM electronic fuel injection. Sparks are sequenced through AC Delco plug wires. Cooling comes courtesy of a factory radiator. Spent gases get whisked away by Hooker long-tube headers. Aesthetically, the Cast Silver mill blends seamlessly with clean, Navy Blue Metallic fenders. And, if it's complete originality you seek, the car's factory exhaust manifolds ARE included with our sale. ALL F-BODY Behind the spry engine, a slick-shifting Borg Warner T56 6-speed spins an SLP-supplied torsen differential around sporty, 3.42 gears. Power rack-and-pinion steering leads an SLP-tuned double A-arm front and 3-link rear suspension that's supplemented with Acceleration Slip Regulation. Braking is provided by four power-assisted discs that are augmented with standard anti-lock technology. Spent gases float through aftermarket exhaust, which pairs large-diameter pipes with high-flow catalytic converters and an aggressive muffler. Mirrored, ZR-1-style wheels spin original 275/40ZR17 Goodyear Eagle F1s. And, as with the car's factory exhaust manifolds, its original catalytic converters and front exhaust pipe are included with our sale. LOOKS AND LEATHER Between the doors, fresh bucket seats electronically adjust six ways for the driver while a Comfortilt steering wheel sports convenient thumb toggles for Cruise Control and an awesome Monsoon sound system. The instrument panel is a familiar and legible GM layout that features a built-in Driver Information Center next to a large tachometer and sweeping speedometer. At the floor, an optional Hurst short-throw shifter surfs a small console between clean mats. And naturally, all the luxuries you'd expect in a modern car are present and accounted for, including power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, a power decklid and Remote Keyless Entry with GM's PASSkey II theft deterrent system. Looking back on the long history of the F-Body, there's little doubt that this SS is one of the fastest, best-handling and most enjoyable Camaros of all time. It exhibits the best of everything from one of the last authentic pony cars, and it's the perfect fit for any serious collector who loves showroom-fresh muscle.
