Vehicle Description
Ford's decision in 1969 to introduce the now famous Mach 1 was so successful that it actually brought the end to the once sought after GT optioned Mustangs. How successful? The 1969 Mach 1 outsold the GT by a staggering 13-1. (72,458 mach 1 sales to only 5,396 GTs) But by 1976 the Mach 1 was discontinued for a variety of reasons. Following the stir caused by the retro 2001 "Bullitt" (a lightly modified 2001 GT, named for the famed chase Mustang driven by Steve McQueen in the film Bullitt) Ford saw the value of heritage in the Mustang name and as a follow up, sought to revive the Mach 1 name. While similar to the Bullitt in the use of the Cobra's 13 in (330 mm) Brembo front brake rotors, unique Tokico gas shocks and struts, and lower and stiffer springs, the Mach 1 received a huge performance gain over the base GT and even the 265 hp (198 kW) Bullitt in the form of a unique variant of the DOHC 32-valve 4.6 Liter Modular V8. The reintroducing of the 2003 Mach 1s and the 2004 Mach 1 was very successful and today stand as some of the best bang for your buck cars. But for some, the DOHC 4.6 wasn't enough, take for instance this gorgeous 2003 Mach 1 that has had over $25,000 invested into just the driveline alone! Gone is the simple 4.6 and instead the engine bay today houses a built 5.0L 302 stroker that cranks out a dyno proven 568 rear-wheel horsepower at 6500 RPMS. Pop the sleek red shaker hood and you'll see how it accomplishes this right off the bat. Stuffed in the engine bay is a procharger supercharger that is fresh off a $500 tune by the folks at ProDyno. But, this isn't just a quick slap a supercharger on a mustang job, not even close! Every aspect of the driveline was beefed up to handle the nearly 700hp at the crank. This included a Tremec T56 6-speed, Auburn 8.8 rear differential with Moser 31-spline axles, new throttle body, ARP head studs, Melling oil pump, BBK full length headers, borla exhaust and a complete build on the engine from PSI motorsports. Careful precision was taken during this build to ensure that the overall look of the car wasn't changed, so the famous lines of the mach 1 are still intact and best of all even with the engine swap and build, everything still works - A/C, cruise, power everything etc.. You're starting to see how thought out this build was. Power is put to the pavement thanks to 18" Special edition American Racing wheels that have been wrapped in 305/35ZR18's in the rear and 275/35ZR18s in the front. A blast to drive and quick to become the envy of all your friends with the turn of the key... This isn't your run of the mill Mustang. Showing only 30,000 actual miles, this pony has been well kept and cared for its entire life. Dont miss your chance to own something very special!
