Here is a desirable 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 - 392 Inaugural Edition. This was a limited build of 1,100 US cars conceived to properly introduce FCA’s new 392 cubic inch (6.4L) Hemi engine, ripe with 470 horsepower and 470 foot-pounds of torque. But beyond all this power and SRT8 performance are more special features including a white leather interior and 20” forged aluminum wheels. It all makes for a very impressive Challenger.
This one-owner car shows 28k miles and is finished in Deep Water Blue Pearl. In addition to this special color, the Inaugural Edition adds dual white racing stripes, a body colored grille, special 392 emblems, quad exhaust tips, and unique SRT wheels. This one wears Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires (245/45ZR20 in front, 255/45ZR20 in back) which provide excellent grip. There is also a functional hood scoop along with a rear spoiler.
The drivetrain starts with the aforementioned 392 ci engine with its aluminum hemispherical heads. It was developed with an emphasis on low end torque rather than peak horsepower, but it delivers on both counts. It is mated to the optional 5-speed AutoStick automatic transmission which feeds a limited slip rear end with 3.06 gears. This SRT8 model also features a revised suspension, quicker steering ratio and smaller steering wheel than previous models.
The interior is one of the highlights of the Inaugural Edition. It features white leather seats with blue striping along with embroidered 392 logos up front. The centerpiece of the dash is the optional Uconnect system with its 6.5” color touch screen, GPS navigation, 30GB hard drive, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and more. This one also has the SRT Option Group II with 13 Kicker speakers, a 322 watt Kicker amplifier, and a 200 watt Kicker subwoofer. Additional features include automatic climate control and heated front seats.
This unique Challenger has a serialized dash plaque showing it as number 977 of 1,100. This example also comes with its original window sticker showing a price of $49,010 along with a manifest sheet dated February 3, 2011. All the manuals are present along with the original inflator kit. And finally a car cover is included as well.
There is a lot to like with this Challenger. It combines a great retro look with the capabilities of an SRT8, but it also provides more room and comfort than anything in its class. And it is part of a limited production run that really stands out from “ordinary” Challengers. It’s a great way to capture the style of 1970 but with far more performance, comfort, and convenience.
