Vehicle Description
1920 FORD T ROADSTER THE LUNCHBOX SPECIAL It is rare that one has the opportunity to own not only an extraordinary Hot Rod but a cultural icon. Called The Lunch Special because in 1960 East coast Hot Rod builder legends Fred Steel and Don Spinney wanted to prove you could build a Hot Rod for less than $1,000. Inspired by Norm Grabowski's Kookie T-Bucket built for the popular "hip" character on TV's 77 Sunset Strip, Steel and Spinney went to work keeping things simple. Chrome was used only as accents; white and maroon paint and a 265 cid Chevy V-8 instead of a more expensive 283 or 327 Chevies. The Lunchbox Special becomes an icon for its place on the cover of the Ventures in Space album in which West coast meets East coast. The subject of numerous magazine articles. An original TyRods and L.A. Roadsters Club member. A true rolling piece of American History.
