Estimate: $90,000 - $120,000 One of just 1,173 exported for 1958 Comprehensively restored and beautifully presented Fitted with an exceptional burled wood dash Jaguar Heritage Certificate in place As the ultimate expression of Jaguar's XK series cars, the XK 150 continued to offer the spirited performance and luxurious appointments that Jaguar's customers had come to know and love about the cars from Coventry. Introduced in 1957, the XK 150 presented a plethora of changes from lessons learned by Jaguar engineers who made the XK 120 and XK 140 models. Jaguar offered their new car as a fixed-head coupe and drophead coupe when production began, but the most desirable body style, the roadster, wouldn't enter production until 1958. The XK 150 was built with knowledge earned during the marque's brilliant competition career. Four-wheel disc brakes, an enlarged radiator opening, a revised cylinder head, and enhanced passenger room marked the most significant improvements. The racy low-cut door lines of the XK 120 and XK 140 were replaced with a slightly more conservative shape. The tried-and-true XK chassis remained but was now powered by an upgraded 3.4-litre twin-cam six-cylinder engine. Inside, all models received a padded dash top, softer and wider seats, and a windscreen that wrapped around the cockpit. By the time the XK 150 hit showroom floors, it was clear that Jaguar had a fantastic automobile on their hands, one that was full of British charm and sophistication. Built 10 June 1958, the example offered here left the factory wearing highly attractive Cream paintwork over a Red Leather interior with a Fawn top. Comprehensively restored to this very color scheme in recent years by Jeff's Resurrections in Taylor, Texas, the paintwork, brightwork, and luxurious red leather interior with matching carpet appears to be nearly new. The engine bay also shows beautifully, with clean surfaces, shiny paint, and brightly polished chrome surfaces throughout. At the time of restoration, the car received a unique and highly attractive burled-wood dash in place of the usual leather panels, a classic and highly attractive touch. Included with the car is a Jaguar factory service manual, wheel hammer, and a selection of documents. As the last of the fabled series of sporting Jaguars that started with the XK 120, the XK 150 represents the end of an era. XK 150s are noticeably more refined and sophisticated than their older siblings, and they are excellent automobiles for touring.
