Vehicle Description
1966 was the first year as a separate model for the Caprice. The Caprice was introduced in mid-1965 as an upgrade package of a few hundred dollars over the Impala. 1966 was the first year for the "formal" Hardtop Coupe. This particular Caprice was purchased new in California and resided there with the original owner until sold and brought east in 2006. It still retains its original Lemonwood Yellow paint, original black vinyl top, and original black fabric interior. It has only been driven 51,000 miles and still wears the original California black license tags with the rear tag frame from the original selling dealer. It is powered by the original 327 ci, 275HP V-8 and Powerglide automatic transmission. Other accessories include Power Steering, tilt steering column, dual exhaust, Soft Ray tinted glass, original "Bow Tie" accessory floor mats, AM-FM radio with rear-mounted antenna, factory wire wheel covers, and OEM-style whitewall tires. The trunk compartment retains its original splatter paint as well as the original spare tires and tools. The original books and Protect-O-Plate are provided with the purchase of this car. This is a well-preserved time capsule from 1966 and it is indeed rare to find a car like this in this condition. Tom Mack sez, My late father bought a new Caprice in 1965 when they were introduced. I tried to talk him into a Coupe when they came out in '66, but he needed a 4-Door for transporting customers. I always loved the lines of the large '66 Chevrolets, and the Caprice seats provide Cadillac comfort in a Chevy. This Caprice is a very rare find....
