Produced from 1963 to 1967 as both a roadster and coupe, it was smaller, more powerful, and wore a futuristic fiberglass body penned by Larry Shinoda. To improve road holding and ride quality, Chief Engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov ordered development of an all-new ladder-frame chassis with an independent rear suspension that allowed it to compete with the best sports cars from Europe. The end for the C2 arrived in 1967, but the successful second generation would leave on a high note with a freshened styling that made it a sleeker package overall. Five slots appeared in the fenders and Big Block cars bore a contrasting colour stinger on the hood, hinting of the potency that lay underneath.
