Vehicle Description
This 1971 Pontiac GTO convertible underwent a frame-off restoration. It is a true GTO with correct 24267 VIN and PHS paperwork, and is one of 678 produced. It is powered by a rebuilt NOM 455ci 8-cylinder engine and a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission. The transmission was recalibrated for positive shifts and is spun by a performance torque converter. The frame and suspension have been restored using new or rebuilt quality components and hardware. All brake components and fuel system components are new, including an NOS fuel tank. This GTO is equipped with the correct and complete Ram Air system and Garner exhaust system with factory-style mufflers, hangers and splitters. The NOS coolant and heater hoses with correct tower-style clamps are connected to a heavy-duty radiator as well as a new heater core. The exterior features Endura bumpers and fenders on a rust-free body showing no signs of previous damage or repair, and Firestone wide oval tires mounted on the correct 1971 Rally II rims with new PMD center caps and matching lug nuts. The interior features an all-new PUI Sandalwood-colored upholstery kit, Rally gauge package, factory tachometer and a deluxe wood steering wheel with tilt steering. The RetroSound AM/FM digital stereo unit has four Pioneer speakers hidden for a bone-stock-looking interior. This GTO also features a complete M&H electronics wiring harness from bumper to bumper with all-new lights, lenses and four NOS T3 headlamps. The brand-new, power-assisted black convertible top is rebuilt with new bushings and hardware. During the restoration, the "Judge" package was added to this authentic GTO convertible, which consists of a correct rear spoiler, blacked-out grilles, glove box badge and the correct bold-color Judge stripes. The factory stock-appearing distributor hides a Crane XR-1 ignition with matching coil, all painted to appear stock. The GTO also sports a factory-appearing heavy-duty radiator, oversized factory exhaust and aftermarket camshaft and valve springs that mimic the factory specs with more lift.
