Estimate: €20,000 - €30,000 Fascinating original specification One of the last hand-built Maseratis Maserati's Quattroporte III was introduced by Alejandro de Tomaso, then President of Maserati, in pre-production form in November of 1976, and the production-ready Quattroporte III went on sale in 1979. Devoid of all the Citroen-era components of its predecessor, Quattroporte's could be had with a 4.2-litre or 4.9-litre V-8 engine, the latter boasting 280 bhp at 5,600 rpm and a top speed of 220 km/h. According to information provided by Maserati Classiche, this Quattroporte III was built in October of 1979 and originally finished in Marrone Metalizzato over a Cuoio Naturale interior. Delivered new to Italy, an accompanying previous Portuguese registration shows that it was imported to Portugal by at least 1992. At some point its original ZF manual gearbox was replaced for an automatic, and the car was repainted black.
