Vehicle Description
Imagine if Pontiac were to introduce a new 2000+ mid-engine sports car???? Well that was the plan with updating this older classic economy 2 seater. Out with the old 2.8 135 h.p. v6 and in with one of GM’ best v6 engine/transaxle combos…. the 3800 Supercharged 250 h.p./280 ft.lbs. torque engine and matching 4t65eHD auto overdrive transaxle with switchable performance modes from the late model Grand Prix. Other performance mod.s to the fuel system and tuning put this at more like 310 h.p. presently. 0 to 60 in the low 4s with 25 to 36 mpg. Custom axles, heavy duty CVs, late model Cadillac front mounted transaxle cooler, large heavy-duty aluminum radiator with 2 step cooling fan. Custom (pollution legal) Magnaflow convertor, Thrush muffler, and resonator tips make up the exhaust system. Updated 134 air conditioning with higher output compressor. All new performance sport struts and coils at all 4 corners with All suspension joints replaced and All rubber bushing upgraded to polygraphite. Oversized front and rear sway bars. Larger rotors, calipers, master cylinder and brake booster for stopping power to match the performance. Out with the old vacuum cruise and in with late model GM electronic cruise. OBDII port is accessible right on the dash and is compatible with Torque program right on your cell phone. Yes, you can read/eliminate engine codes right from your phone.
A MAJORUPDATE… You are looking at one of a few known examples of a Fiero with ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. Not only was the entire unit from a late GM model vehicle installed it is User adjustable for assist. In Sport mode it keeps the near manual feel of the original car, in Normal mode a little more assist provides about the feel of most modern sports cars, and in Maximum mode you can get the ease of fingertip control for tight parking lots.
Interior- Battery is relocated to front trunk and 3 separate fuse power blocks installed for front, interior, and engine bay. Power windows are now One Touch express up or down. Central locking is now tied into keyless entry. Three 12 volt accessory ports were added along with a 7 inch video backup camera system. Audio system has upgraded Alpine USB, Bluetooth, Pandora ready head unit with Rockford Fosgate speakers and 10 inch powered subwoofer. Left drivers visor now has Home link garage door controller. Switches for Launch Control Mode, switch for water temp. gauge to transmission temp. gauge information swap, and switch for Steering Modes. Lightweight Maxxim Maze wheels with 168 mph rated General tires are now at all 4 corners. Less than 5000 miles on these wheels and tires.
Extra Goodies- Included are the full set of original correct size Fiero lace wheels and Ohtsu tires which I use as winter rims. Wheels I would rate as good and the tires excellent with less than 5000 miles. You will also receive a large binder which is literally an Owners Technical Service book on everything that has been done to the car including all the receipts and tech. information on exactly what parts were use. I also will include shop manuals for this Fiero model year and the complete shop manual for the 3800 SC motor and matching transaxle. I also have a full set of brand new performance gears for the transaxle. They have never been installed. I also have a full padded nose bra.
So if it is such as great car why are you selling....Well, my wife and I have owned 5 Fieros over the years. All the way up into our 50s we weren't having much in the way of health problems. And then....wife breaks ankle into 3 pieces....3 titanium plates and 16 screws later she can get into the car pretty well, but coming out is just too much for her. And then there is me....right knee operation, not so bad.....and now thinning padding between my vertebrae and going into the car is fine and then there is that struggle to get out.... I don't want this car to sit around.....
Condition of car- I'd give this newer repaint about an 8.5, the interior about a 9 (seat foams and fabrics replaced about 2 years ago), wheels and tires a 9.8, engine/transaxle a 9.8, and the braking/suspension a 9.8 as well.
So...you could build a car like this for about 12 to 14k in about a year. You'd better have the tools, time, and troubleshooting skills lined up though. If you have to have someone else do all that then figure in another 10k.
This is a deal my friends.... don't let it get away. This was a western car with NO rust when I had it shipped here to Ohio and I have kept it that way with careful driving throughout the year. It qualifies for the one time fee Historic tags( that is what I currently have on it) or you can also register it as a daily driver as well.
