Vehicle Description
-Great condition
-Long wheel base, lots of volume
-2wd, 4wd, and 4wd-low
-Just over 100k miles
This Delica is a 1994 L400 - the version is a rare combination of long wheelbase, gas (not diesel) V6. This is the first year that the L400 (newer body style) is available to be imported into the US because they're turning 25yrs old (this one just turned 25 this summer, but definitely looks much newer). It's got just over 100,000 miles (~104), runs excellent, has had the timing belt replaced, and has been taken very good care of at a specialty shop that only services Delicas.
These are extremely reliable and capable vehicles. The newer L400s are much easier to drive and more powerful (comfortable cruising at 75mph) than the boxier L300s, but the regular L400s are smaller inside, ...except for the rare long wheelbase versions like this one. At the same time, they have the chassis, transmission, and offroad capability of a truck, complete with 4-wheel-high and low and a center locking differential. And they have insane internal volume. The ultimate utility vehicle.
This version has the higher roof with "crystallite" motorized sunshades, which are not just something to impress your friends (they definitely will), but are really nice for star gazing. Other surprisingly modern things for a 1994 vehicle are A/C, auto-on headlights, AM/FM/CD/Aux (after market, Alpine), and a Bluetooth dongle thing that makes it like the car has Bluetooth. There's also a very useful homemade center console since it doesn't come with one.
Since this is the long wheel base, you can easily fit 3 mountain bikes standing up inside the back, with both middle row seats still in. I currently have it set up with a bed platform in the back (3rd row seats are also included in sale). In this configuration it's a 5ft bed with tons of room for the middle row seats. It acts like a trunk, hiding any luggage/cargo you have underneath. It does a 1/3rd fold over so you can easily roll a bike in (see pics). Then you can swivel the middle row seats and put the bed extension on for a 6.5ft full size bed. Very roomy and cozy. It also has curtains for all the windows and the front for full privacy. I've also winter camped where we fold the bed mattress back, and cook on the platform while relaxing in the middle captains chairs. With the 3rd row seats in it seats 7 ...and I've taken 7 adults skiing in it, although more comfortably 6 adults.
If you're looking to convert a Delica for vanlife/camping (like I originally was), you'll definitely want a long wheelbase version like this one so you can fit a bed and a kitchen in it (like these guys did
All in all, an incredibly unique vehicle that will inspire you to take lots of adventures (as it has for me - my friends and will be very sad to see it go). This Delica is located just over the border in Vancouver BC. As specified above, it's eligible for import to the US, just need to fill out 2 forms. Due to its age it's exempt from safety and emissions tests. I have service records going back about 8yrs, and an inspection report from a little over a year ago. You are more than welcome to come up and check it out. If I get several interested parties I'll bring it down through the I-5 corridor to show.
