Vehicle Description
This is a great vehicle that I bought last summer so I could travel while taking online college courses. I converted it myself and adventured around the Pacific Northwest and all over California. This van has been great for me, and I'm only selling it because I will be working full-time now.
The Vehicle:
This is a 2012 Nissan NV2500, with 196,000 miles. During my time with the van, the majority of driving was low-impact highway travel. It has been well maintained, and during my time with it, I have had mechanics update the car's computer system, change the rear shocks, mass airflow sensor, front strut assemblies, catalytic converter flange gaskets, and several other things that I can't quite remember. All the fluids and filters have been replaced at suggested intervals, and the battery is brand new. I also put on new tires that have about 75% of life left. Mechanically it has never failed me, and it has many years of life left. The 4-liter engine still has way more power than you'll ever need and gets pretty solid gas mileage. While driving almost entirely on the highway, it was getting 19 miles per gallon, and in town, it gets me 11-13. It is super smooth to drive and has an upgraded JVC Bluetooth sound system. The tire pressure light is permanently on, but that can be easily fixed next time tires are replaced. anyways, I don't think you need a light to know when you have a flat tire.
The Conversion:
I insulated the walls and ceiling and carpeted the floor. It was good enough that I could tolerate 25 degree nights, though I would recommend having warm gear if you are planning on doing that regularly. There is a full-sized twin bed in there, and even at 6'3" I sleep comfortably. There are drawers under the bed, which fit my entire wardrobe of clothes. In the back is the kitchen area which has a walnut countertop, built-in two-burner propane stove, a 5-gallon water jug, and sink. Underneath the counter is room for the food bin, propane tank, and kitchen supplies. There is plenty of extra space after this enough for my xl mountain bike and 7' surfboard. It may not be a high roof van, but I found that to be ok considering the fact that I wasn't constantly inside, and used the van mostly as my sleeping place. Cooking can be done from inside, but in good weather, it is super nice to open up the back doors and cook outside.
The conversion was good enough for me but you may want more. If you want to go all the way you could add solar. There are many guides out there for setting up solar and battery systems that could power lights and even a minifridge. The car does have a built-in outlet though that can charge electronics, and was enough for me to keep my computer charged at all times. Getting one of those big rechargeable batteries that charge many devices at a time could be another great option.
All in all, this is a mid-level conversion and if that is what you are looking for, this is a great van in excellent condition, that has many years of travel to come. I have the current smog and it's ready to go!
The price is $9,900 OBO, but if you aren't serious don't bother wasting your time. Reply through the craigslist email link, which will allow me to filter through and find the serious people. If you are serious though I can answer any questions you may have. I'll keep updating this post so if I don't get back to you check right here.
