Vehicle Description
I have two broken E30 325i 5 speed convertibles and no time to work on them.
First one is a triple black 1990 (first year of ABS and airbags but last year of the manual top). This one has original paint, H&R lowering springs, stainless exhaust, etc but the dash and interior are showing some age and the rear window is getting fogged.
I've spent well over $5k recently on this one... first was a new radiator, water pump, timing belt, completely new clutch, and rebuilt the air conditioning. Then the head gasket blew so we had the head completely gone through (all new guides, etc) and installed it with new updated injectors, fresh plugs and wires, etc. The car ran awesomely at speed but had a strange miss at idle which caused it to fail emissions. So we parked it for the summer... then when I decided to put historic tags on it, the entire car was dead electrically. I don't know if rodents got at the wiring or if a fuseable link somewhere blew, but that's how she sits. I suspect it will be an easy fix for someone who knows these cars better than me.
Car #2 is a green 1992 5 speed, H&R springs, strut bar, etc. This was the personal car of a BMW racer/collector and was his well maintained daily driver after he retired until he passed away. I bought it from his estate. The top has been partially converted to manual (all the electrics unhooked, but still needs a release cable... can be manually lowered but is more difficult than it would be with a release cable). AC was completely rebuilt and blew cold. A few weeks ago it started getting warm on I-70 (never overheated) and my diagnosis is a leaking head gasket. It runs great otherwise but we have not had it out of the yard since then.
Offering these as a pair or separately. Both are currently licensed and insured with clear MD titles in my name. I also have a factory E30 removable hardtop and an aftermarket tonneau cover (first I've ever seen!) but I will offer the car buyer first chance at them. (Not certain I want to sell as I'll likely have another E30 in my future).
Would trade both cars for a manual E30 convertible that will pass a MD safety inspection and emissions.
