Used SUV 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport XLS 3.0 - 4WD great engine bad... for sale in Missoula, MT

This was my daughter's daily driver/project car.

This last spring we changed wires, plugs, valve cover gaskets, cam seals, MAF sensor, PCV valve, etc. and it went from running OK to running great.

The alternator gave out over the summer, and shorted out internally. We then replaced the battery, alternator, and cam and crankshaft position sensors. While we had it apart, we replaced the front cam and crank shaft seals, drive belts, timing belt, water pump, and radiator.

Engine turns over nicely but will not start. We took it to a shop in Missoula that specializes in electrical issues, and they verified that the ECU (computer) is good, but there are burned/broken wires between the ECU and some things in/around the engine compartment, specifically the cam and crankshaft position sensors and the battery backup line that maintains power to the ECU.

Buy for good engine + parts car, or try your hand at troubleshooting the wiring. Will need to be towed from the shop in Missoula.

Frame is structurally sound, but there is rust underneath.
Exhaust chain has had some creative aftermarket fixes applied.
Front and rear bumper covers are cracked and missing some bits and aren't pretty.
Body is in decent shape aside from a small dent near rear bumper. Very little rust.
Tires are shot and need replacing ASAP.
Floor mats & stereo in pictures stay with us. Original stereo will be included.

Can provide receipts/packaging for majority of new parts, plus digital version of factory engine service manual.

4WD works well.
Clean MT title.
Hard to get decent pictures in my poorly-lit garage, but I can answer questions via text or phone.
