Vehicle Description
-SOLD-
130,000 miles, same owner since 1996 - well loved but lightly used
1.6 L fuel injected original engine, 5 speed manual transmission
Good mechanical condition: starts, drives, shifts nicely, powers up hills.
Interior is all original and in very good condition. The SI model has sunroof, rear defrost and wiper (needs new arm).
The body has minor dents and some rust at lower edges. Frame is good. It was undercoated at original purchase.
Service records are available. Timing belt changed at 68K and clutch, valve cover, brakes, radiator, PCV, and plugs since then. In the past few years, it was given a new alternator, battery, ebrake cable, brake adjuster, and thermostat.
The 1989 Civic SI was designed as a sporty economy car, with front and rear double wish bone suspension, ultra low hood line, and two sway bars. The 1989 SI model was recognized for engineering excellence, particularly for steering, and is still valued for its uniquely sleek, classic lines, and potential for sport/racing modification.
Classed as a sub-compact, it is surprisingly spacious and road-worthy. We drove 3 people with gear for a 3-week wilderness trip- and 3 sea-kayaks on top- over POW logging roads. It also served well on a road trip to CA and back. It is very fuel efficient, reliable and fun to drive: light, responsive, and road-hugging.
There aren't many of these around anymore, and fewer with original interior and engine. Restored or preserved examples are valued classics. We hate to let this great car go. $2800
