Vehicle Description
In looking at the photos, you should be able to see the investment potential of this project. The parts, engine, and amenities alone would be worth the cost of this project, if you could even find them.
Pros: Very sought-after model, '71 is the last year with the easy to work on 1600cc upright engine & the first year with front disc brakes, low mileage rebuilt engine adjusted to run on regular instead of premium gas, this is the "Tin-Top Weekender" model van with full original Westfalia camper interior furniture in excellent condition w/all knobs, handles, and latches, (furnishings incl: re-upholstered folding Z-Bed w/storage cabinet below, rear overhead shelf, floor to ceiling clothes closet, fold-up dining table, re-upholstered rear-facing jump seat, sink & icebox cabinet w/fold-up side table, re-upholstered center seat stool), wood-grain laminate flooring, re-upholstered driver and passenger seats w/3-point retracting seat belts, clutch cable and many new brake parts including brake booster & master cylinder, all window & door rubber replaced with genuine German made, all door locks are keyed the same, w/separate engine hatch cover lock, working louvre windows with screens, rare original VW dashboard clock, original VW hub caps, VW logo mud flaps, no rust, clean title/not totaled, no back taxes.
Cons: accident front end damage including windshield & front doors, have replacement windshield in storage, and body & fender shop owner stated front axle appears to not have been impacted.
This could probably be turned into an excellent high value vintage vehicle with a little TLC.
If you are reading this post, it is still available. Only seriously interested parties, please.
