Vehicle Description
2008 Volkswagen GTI, 4 Door, United Grey. 119,XXX miles.
Motor should need no maintenance for a while! Car is equipped with the FSI motor. All the common things that go wrong with this motor have been addressed recently.
Recent Work:
-Turbo replaced by previous owner at 94,964 miles
-Front tires have good tread, rear tires are okay. Previous owner installed 2 new ones at 105,000 miles
-The headliners are notorious in these cars for sagging. Headliner was replaced in 2018 by previous owner
-Front breaks replaced at 105,385 miles
-Spark plugs replaced at 112,227 miles with NGK plugs
-Both front axles replaced 2019 (I tried to re-build the stock axles but could not get the clamps to re-attach. Car will come with reusable stock axles)
-PCV block-off plate installed 2019. BSH brand PVC Revamp purchased through ECS tuning.com
-Brake booster vacuum hose system replaced 2019
-Previous owner let the cam follower go too long without getting replaced, no damage to the cam or head occurred. Upon replacing the cam follower I decided to rebuild the high-pressure fuel pump. Now the high-pressure fuel pump is has upgraded JHM HPFP Upgrade Kit. The plan was to tune to stage 2+ which would require this upgrade, but I never did the full tune upgrade.
-Battery replaced August 2019
-Malone Stage 1+ tune equipped (stage 2+ tune paid for, all you need is a 3" downpipe and you can take it to get tuned to stage 2+ at your local Malone Tuning location. I will verify if any Malone tuning location will work, but I got my tune done at Audub in Wilmington)
- Cam Chain Tensioner replaced at Audub in March 2020. No mileage is listed on the invoice, but it was around 116,000 miles.
- Timing belt, water pump replaced at 119,036 miles.
-ECS tuning cold air intake (car comes with stock air box)
-Magna Flow cat back exhaust
-Wheels were curbed bad by previous owner. I patched and plasti-dipped wheels
-NewSouth Boost Gauge
-20% window tint
Issues:
- Whoever had timing belt work done on this car previously did not install the passenger motor mount correctly. On the engine block at the rear mounting location for the motor mount bracket there was excess pressure caused because the motor mount bolts became loose. This caused the rear mounting location on the block to break off. I already have the part to fix this problem. I spoke with the owner of Audub and he says it would only take a few hours of labor. So max if you don’t do it yourself it will cost $500, that is a very high estimate it would probably be more like $350. The car is up and running now. I installed the motor mount with 2 out of the 3 bolts and have put 200 miles on it with no problem. You will not want to drive it around like this for long before you fix this, but I needed to test the timing belt out to make sure it was running well.
