Vehicle Description
Selling my 2004 Volvo S60 R. This car was very much ahead of its time when it came out in 2004 as it features a lot of the new bells and whistles that most cars have today. I am hoping this car goes to a Volvo owner and lover who respects what these cars are all about.
About the car: I am only the second owner of this car and I have had it for about 3 years now. Since then I have only put 13,000 miles on it! The car only has 122,000 miles which is very low for being 15 years old. It features a 6 speed manual trans (very desirable!!) and all wheel drive. It has a 2.5L 5-cylinder turbo charged engine that produces 300 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Leather interior. Heated seats. Sun roof. Very quick for a sedan and a total blast to drive. As any car that is 15 years old it has its small dings and bumps but no major damage. The owners before me took great care of it and had it serviced regularly as needed. They replaced all the major things before I bought it like breaks, clutch, timing belt etc..
I have an almost new set of Bridgestone Blizzak snow tires on the car to get ready for the winter months. Also comes with the roof rack and mud flaps I installed.
Minor Issues:
- Trip Odometer. Lately the trip odometer in the car has been resetting itself. I have talked to a
few different Volvo techs and they all say its an electronics bug in the dash cluster and a very common problem for this car and year and that most people are fine living with it. To fix it you would have to replace the entire dash cluster which I felt was very unnecessary and expensive for being a minor issue.
- Oil drain Plug. Being a car lover I like to work on my own cars and take care of normal services myself. Shortly after buying the car I wanted to change the oil and start running a synthetic blend oil in the car. After getting underneath the car to unscrew the oil drain plug I found it impossible to get it out. I only use hand tools and it would not budge under my strength. I took it to a friend mechanic of mine to see if he could help as he has some air wrenches. Unfortunately when he tried to reverse the bolt out with his air wrench is stripped out the bolt pretty badly. All we could figure is that the last time the oil was changed in the car the mechanics didn’t align the threads correctly and drove it in anyway which seized the bolt. I have heard of this happening before to fellow car friends.. The only fix now would be to drill through the bolt and remove it and hope you don’t damage any of the threads but I didn’t want to push my luck. Long story short we tried a million differ things to remove the bolt and it never would come out. So, the way I have been changing the oil in the care is with an oil pump that extracts the oil from the dip stick tube. It has actually made changing oil in the car a whole lot easier and a much more pleasant experience. Anyways I am hoping this car goes to someone who doesn’t mind changing their own oil and is fine using an extraction pump.
So those are the two issue with the car. Everything else is in great condition.
I am asking $6,000 for the car but willing to work with anyone who might be interested.
