Vehicle Description
Original German 21 Window Deluxe Bench Seat bus. More pictures at:
Registered in California. Numbers matching behind bench seat, upper air vent and engine compartment.
Very straight bus with good door gaps.
Has been in the family since the late 60's. Daily Driver and runs great. Originally Ceiling Wax Red and Beige Grey!
Since about ‘68, the color has been silver with black molding. It is now a nice faded and matte which I touch up periodically.
Mechanicals came apart about 20 years ago and rebuilt and maintained.
Gutters are not rusty - they are solid.
Undercoated and still remains in very good condition.
Underside shots are typical of rest of underside - undercoating mostly solid - Well maintained and needs nothing.
1600 duel port motor with Kadrones - maintained by me with regular valve adjustment and oil changes.
Tranny is good functioning condition - reduction boxes still there. Freeway Flyer gearing set up so it cruises nicely at 60.
Brakes are good and maintained and rebuilt a couple years ago.
Most of the original interior is gone - I still have some pieces of the Mesh Grey panels.
Great / easy restoration project or drive it like I have for the past few decades with it's 50 years of patina.
Rare and correct Saphire 2 radio converted to digital. 12 volts. Removeable trailer hitch for your teardrop. Fresh tires.
Fully functioning 12v with alternator electrics except clock.
I will continue to improve bus and update and primer bare spots for protection.
Great restoration project and not much needed before paint.
Gutters are solid and not rusted out.
Ragtop has been completely rebuilt with $500 in Grumpy’s hardware. New ragtop installed.
Replaced: Rockers, Battery Pan, Outer Belley Pan.
Some floor patches - 95% original. You can see the original tar/fiber battons still interior and sound deadening panels.
Issues:
Driver lower dog leg needs to be repaired - hole in it.
hole at 2nd driver side second clerestory window
hole in right side rear of cargo door rocker
front cargo door inner panel has hole and bottom edge needs work.
Outer seatbelt anchors need repair.
