Vehicle Description
Thanks to deadbeat time wasters who have no lives of their own, this sweet Merc is available once again- their loss and your gain. Don't inquire if you don't have money, need permission from your wife, boss, landlord, parents, or whoever else you have to get permission from- get permission first; and if you try to scam me, get lost and get a life. The only trades I'll even consider are Muscle Cars from the mid 60's through 1972 if it's one that I want, no convertables or Vinyl Tops, no Corvettes and a minimum of $15,000 cash difference with the cash paid by you (in other words, I have no ambition to trade up, or equal, but will strongly consider trading down with cash difference). Ideal cars I would consider would be '68-'72 Nova, '70-72 Monte Carlo, '68-70 Mustang, '69 Cougar, '69 Lemans or Tempest, '66 Buick Skylark Wildcat, '70-'72 Dodge Dart
'68 Cutlass, etc. Imperfections ok but no heaps or projects
ONE BAD '51!!! CLEAN AND CLEAR TITLE!!! AWARD WINNER!!! GIRLS LOVE IT!!! RELIVE THE DAYS OF AMERICAN GRAFFITI AND WHITTIER BLVD!!!
1951 Mercury Eight For Sale. Never Chopped. Restored in 2000, Paint still holding up well, but definitely not flawless after nearly 20 years. VERY DRY! Excellent cloth interior (perfect for summer days compared to vinyl or leather) You will love driving and being seen driving this beautiful lead sled. It gets tons of attention and still wins awards (just won an award Sunday 10/20/19 at a Blues Festival where some of the musicians were judges. Trevor, the guitarist from Monk and the 'Po Boys awarded this the Mississippi Crossroads award, and signed the certificate, so you will get his autograph as well!
This has been updated with a Ford 289 V8 from a 1965 Mustang, with a mild cam and a C4 Automatic Transmission with a Ford 9" Rear. There is a Carter 4bbl Carburetor and Edelbrock Aluminum Intake manifold, and the Flowmaster Mufflers give this a rumble that lets them know you're coming and going, but it's not obnoxiously stupid loud either. Very tasteful. Car cruises 70 MPH with no issues.
Also worth noting is there are Power Disc Brakes, Power Steering, AM/FM Cassette (in the glove box, Original Stereo still in the dash but not functioning). Air shocks in the rear, single wire alternator, recent new White Wall Tires (about 500 miles ago and within this past year) Aluminum Champion Radiator, Switch Operated Electric Fan. Car runs smooth even in the Vegas Heat. Electronic Popper for the trunk.
This car gets attention and thumbs up everywhere it goes. I've owned it for 4 years, have put just under 5000 miles on it in that time (total, not per year) and it's a joy to drive. It puts smiles on peoples faces all the time, and the best thing is when children ask questions and say "Whooaaaa" (Children of all ages, mind you!) I'm only selling because I have a grocery list of cars I want throughout my life, and only have room for 1 at a time, so I need to pace myself and put time limits on them. I wish I had this car when I was single, if you know what I mean- you don't even need a one liner; the car does all the talking!
The only issues I can think of and they are very minor is, if you want a flawless paint job, you will need to repaint it, as mentioned, it's a nearly 20 year old paint job, there are chips here and there that have been touched up, there was a rear main seal starting, but I put in stop a leak, and the issue isn't a factor now, etc. These small things are the difference between a $40,000 car and a $100,000 car. Remember, this car gets thorougly enjoyed and that means it gets driven, it's not a trailer queen that gets 3 miles a year put on the ticker. It is garage kept when I'm not driving it.
There is a LITTLE wiggle room on the price, but if you lowball me, you'll be lucky to get a response from me. This car as it is, is selling below far below the NADA price and the Haggarty value.
I've been as honest as I can be in the description, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask IF YOU'RE SERIOUS. Certainly come and see it in person, I'll be happy to meet you in a public place in the Las Vegas/Henderson/Boulder City area by appointment. Obviously, because the car is nearly 70 years old, it is being sold as is. There is currently 70,800 (don't know if it's original or not) miles on the odometer because it still gets driven, so that number can change. I am willing to have it delivered if it's sold for the right price. You can text or email me, but don't call, my cell service is horrible where I live and drops calls constantly. Don't be fooled by the Massachusetts phone number, I'm in Las Vegas and have been for 10 years, I just never changed my number when I arrived.
