Vehicle Description
1966 Jaguar MkII. 3.8L tri-carb, 4 speed manual, Limited slip rear end.
Clear title with WA collector plate in my name.
I bought this car several years ago as a project. (Photo of white car is how I got it. Primer/Silver Blue is how it is now) After many hours of work and acquiring many parts I have realized I am not going to finish it.
It came from California and was virtually rust free. It had a small spot under the rear seat and one in the spare tire well that have been repaired.
The engine is the 3.8 but not the original. It is an early XKE block with a Mk10 head and tri-carb setup. I was told by the previous owner it had been rebuilt. The bores still show crosshatching. Ran smooth and had good oil pressure. I converted it to an alternator, electronic distributor, lightened flywheel, and added a hi-torque starter. Radiator has been rebuilt. Factory exhaust manifolds are functional but don’t look nice. Exhaust itself is rusted out.
4 speed manual ran through the gears without any issues. This is non-O/D.
The wiring harness has been replaced as well as the fuse box with a modern one from Classic Technologies. The wiring will need finishing as the car is reassembled.
I purchased a new Webasto top from England and the wood frame is new as well.
The rear wheel covers were modified to resemble the Coombs cars. These are not the fiberglass ones available, but originals modified. All steel.
The bodywork is mostly complete and the engine bay, trunk, and doors have been cut in. Taken down to bare metal and a coat of rust inhibiting primer laid down. Since it has been some time, I would start with a fresh coat of primer/sealer but it should only need some blocking out. There is some filler. A louvered hood also comes with – still in white paint.
The interior of the car was sun burnt and deteriorated with age. I have the original parts and will also include an extra complete wood set in better condition – but will still need refinishing. The seat frames should be usable and the fronts are reclining. The original door cards were falling apart but I do have another used set. Gauges, switches, etc., are all good and working. As I updated to an alternator I have a new correct Voltmeter to replace the Ammeter. I also have a new aftermarket wood steering wheel. The interior surfaces have been sprayed with LizardSkin sound deadener.
Heater core and heater boz have been rebuilt and resealed.
The front subframe was stripped and repainted with epoxy paint. New Koni Classic shocks installed along with new coil springs and all bushings, tie-rod ends, drag-link ends, idler pivot, etc. The front v-mounts were welded solid which supposed makes for better handling without sacrificing much. Can be easily swapped with new v-mounts. Currently the power steering box is installed but I found a complete manual steering box, linkage, and idler and was planning on switching to manual steering perhaps with an electrically assisted column. All those parts are included.
The front brakes have been upgraded with the Volvo 240 4 pot calipers – a common upgrade that uses stock mk2 mounting, rotors, etc.
The read end is limited slip. I have not had the rear end out of the car yet so it has not been cleaned, painted, etc. I do have new Koni shocks. The rear brake calipers have rusted up and will need to be replaced. I have pulled the pads so the car rolls freely. Old metal brake lines have been installed but should be replaced. New Goodrich brake and clutch flex lines included.
Included is a complete rubber seal kit from either SNG or Xks Unlimited. I don’t remember which but it was over $800.
All the glass is good. All the glass trim, body trim, stainless parts are good. The grill, taillights, bumpers and other chrome bits will need re-chroming Included is the set of driving lights that replace the grilles put on US-spec cars.
Wheels & tires are fine to roll it around but will need to be replaced.
I am sure I am forgetting things but please ask any questions and I’ll do my best to answer them! I have some more pictures but if there is something you want to see I’m happy to take more. The parts are all boxed up so it might take some time to dig those out for photos. Asking $9500 – open to offers
