Vehicle Description
Are you the next lucky owner of this very special, very capable, antique monster? It comes with a heavy heart that I am letting ‘Cruisie go. That said, she has been cared for over the past 6 years I’ve had her. I originally got her from the original owner when I lived in Colorado. It was their mountain farm workhorse, as you can see from the “custom” welded hitch, lol.
Since it’s been in my possession, I have made a number of updates trying to maintain OEM along the way. Oh, and yea, she has a patina you can’t replicate.
She’s a straight 6 (rebuilt in 2000), 3 on-the-tree, and the lockouts for 4x4 work perfectly. I’ve pulled numerous people out of ditches and snowbanks and used it for a year as a daily driver with no problems. In the 6 years I’ve owned it I estimate I’ve put a total of only about 6,000 miles on her. Going into winter it will warm your hear to know both heaters work amazingly. The cab pancake heater alone pumps enough heat to get you sweating in 20-degree weather.
Here’s a short list of work that’s been done in the past 3 years:
- Rebuilt and tuned the carburetor (she starts on command every time)
- New brake and clutch reservoirs
- New wiper blades
- New exhaust and muffler
- 5 new MT tires (at 90% tread)
- Installed driver side captains seat (passenger captain seat comes with it)
- New brakes and rotors
- New heater boots, radiator and gas lines
- New lights and blinkers
- Dash cover
I’m also tossing in some beefy winter tire chains…not that you’ll need them.
Things that I haven’t gotten around to:
- Rear sill needs work (rust is quite common back there)
- Ambulance door handle recently broke.
- Spare tire mount needs new body panel and hinge package
- Instrument panel needs work (speedometer, odometer are not working)
- Interior roof could use a new leather dimple kit (I like, Cruiser Corps for parts, but there’s a ton of aftermarket suppliers out there)
Email with Subject Title: “Serious Buyer interested in FJ” and I will respond. If not, it will be radio silence for you.
Lastly, cash is king and I am in no hurry to sell, so I will wait for the right owner.
