Used CA emissions legal 1979 FJ40 for sale in Austin, CA

This FJ40 gets a lot of attention, but still wears the crow's feet of its 43 years, so a door ding or trail scratch won't stress you out. It was brought to Texas in early 2021 and mechanical freshened up. Runs great, stops great, handles like a 40, climbs rocks with ease, does an easy 60+ on the highway, blows cold AC from its Vintage Air system. It was registered and emissions legal in California through early 2021, and nothing has been altered mechanically since.

The "freshening" includes a tune-up with plugs, plug and coil wires, rotor, filters, oil, water pump and hoses, thermostat, coolant, complete front-axle rebuild, brakes, clutch, oil pan, muffler, BFG 33" tires, freshly painted wheels, freshly upholstered front seats, a new Bestop tuck and tumble rear seat. This 40 needs nothing. Hard top comes off and a bikini top is included.

It wears an older paint respray (red over red) that covers some touch-ups of minor dings and dents. Some minor dings are still visible, as are a couple of bullseyes in the windshield that have been treated. There is no rust that matters on this Land Cruiser.
