-New, COMPLETELY REBUILT ENGINE by my excellent mechanic (with about 150 miles on it, maybe);
-Rebuilt 1971 transmission with updated syncromesh installed
-NEW UPHOLSTERY, with high grade vinyl, custom made masonite high quality door panels, rebuilt front seats by Nacho's Auto Upholstery in Van Nuys
Main restoration included many details such as headliner, dashboard, carpet, steel floorboards, new exhaust, new heater boxes, tail pipe, re-chromed rear bumper, etc. Before I had it painted, I had all the rubber weather stripping replaced. NEW WINDSCREEN, too! It's not a showroom restoration, but perfect for a daily or Sunday driver. The back seat folds down to create a whole carpeted space for luggage or whatever. That's been very handy. Runs great, is a fun daily driver that gets smiles wherever it goes!
It needs some minor bodywork due to LA parking people. The nose was dented in a bit and has been tapped out. Truly a reliable and simple car. This car is in great shape mechanically, and will be a fun car to drive. My mechanic, who I just had do a complete inspection, says that my Karmann Ghia is a good, solid car; best of any he's seen in his shop. He specializes in these cars.
