Vehicle Description
Please read ALL of the following before you call. I know it’s long, but it’ll answer most, if not all, of your potential questions and save us both a lot of time.
Up for sale is my 1974 Vega Estate Wagon, less engine and transmission that’s always been garage kept since I purchased the car. The wood grain panel decals and trim are long gone, and the trim holes were filled w/ bondo by the previous owner and was painted spray can flat white. This car has been in So Cal most of its existence, with a brief stint up in Sacramento. However, it’s been a CA car since new. I’ve owned the car for around 6 years and was in the process of installing a new crate engine and manual transmission. Prior to that undertaking, I drove the car regularly, around town, to car shows, the Big 3, etc. In other words, it was a going concern prior to my partial disassembly. However, if you’re looking for a perfect specimen, this car isn’t for you. Since starting the detailing work, I’ve decided to abandon that project when I found another vehicle to direct my attention towards.
The car was running a 350 SBC w/ a TH350. The car had an original 4 spd. and still has the nylon pulley for use w/ a clutch cable system. I was going to install a new Tremec TKX and install an original set of pedals that I’ve sourced, V8 Monza (H-body) bell housing w/ pivot ball stud, clutch fork and cable cover. The V8 conversion used a set of original Doug Thorley frame mounts that uses earlier Chevy C10 1-bolt engine mounts. The transmission mount is a custom fabricated piece that will bolt up to a TH350 or Muncie 4spd. The interior is fairly complete and all gauges, lighting, dome lt. etc. are in working order. The horn (an original unit accompanies the sale) and turn signal canceling unit do not work. All exterior lighting (turn signals, side marker lights, brake lights headlights (hi & low beams), back-up lights, hazard lights) are all in working order. The original electrical wiring for the engine compartment has been removed in order to paint the engine compartment and all go with the car. All harness connection points have been identified for ease of re-installation The vehicle has a Sniper car alarm installed (fully functional) with wiring harness. The front sheet metal was removed in order to detail the engine compartment and all fasteners that existed for said parts are currently installed in their respective holes. There’s little to no rust, with the following exception. The battery pan has been removed (see photos) and will need either the compromised substrate to be cut and replaced, or just cut to remove the affected metal. Either way, a new battery pan will need to be installed. The first generation (67-69) Camaro units are typically used as a replacement. The other area that will need some attention is the firewall. The previous owner cut a rather large, slotted hole to allow for the TH350 bell housing to fit. That area will need to massage and closed up. The following list indicates those parts that have either been changed, upgrade or are included for use;
Please note: When I refer to “New” that means there’s approximately less than 500 miles of utilization associated with said components.
-A custom made 2 into 1-3” dia. head pipe with a transverse mounted Flow Master muffler installed in the original 4 cly. Muffler location.
-A fluted cylindrical trans. fluid cooler is still mounted on the uni-body on the passenger side with a hard line still intact.
-New bushings (upper & lower) at front control arms, with new stamped metal ferrules from Dave’s Vega Village.
-New Moog 6490 Monza V8 front coil springs.
-Upgraded original solid Vega rotors/calipers w/ new vented Monza 4 lug rotors and calipers. New brake pads, wheel bearings, seals and hoses installed for better braking.
-Corvette style manual disc/drum master cylinder w/ adjustable prop. valve installed.
-Don Hardy Dana 44 rear diff. w/ 3.54 gear ratio w/ positraction. A set of 4.10 ratio gears will go with the car. The diff. was disassembled cleaned, inspected and any worn parts were replaced. The inspection cover has been powder coated semi-gloss black.
-All new rear brake shows, hardware, wheel cylinders, etc.
-Resurfaced brake drums. The drums utilized are typical of that for a 66 Impala.
-New UMI upper and lower tubular control arms for the rear diff.
-Original front and rear stabilizer bars installed w/ newer strut and rubber bushings installed.
-New air shocks.
-Powder coated original Lakewood slapper bars for the H-Body.
-Brand new (unused) door seals that needs to be installed.
-A brand new rear hatch seal has been installed.
-All glass is original and fairly decent shape. The front windshield has a crack in it. However, a brand-new windshield, along with an original unit goes with the car. The OEM unit has a slight crack in it where the alum. trim will cover.
-OEM windshield trim to be included to replace those pieces that are damaged.
-Replacement inner door panels that match the original interior color.
-Several OEM (used) interior pieces will go with the car. Some of those include new plastic panels, etc.
-Alum. trim for the lower portion of the headlight buckets and center grill section.
-Another center grill w/ rubber seal is included.
-NOS lower front air dam (to be installed).
-SBC engine components to be included. HEI w/ upgraded MSD internals, Accel spark plug wires, Holley mech. Fuel pump w/ regulator, alum. flex fan, electrical “pusher” fan, Monza V8 oil pan, Monza V8 exhaust manifolds, modified 1406 Edelbrock 4bbl w/ chrome Mr. Gasket air cleaner, SBC short newer water pump, etc.
-Original spare tire, and bumper jack are present in tire well.
-The heater core and modified core cover are included. The core does not leak.
-Newer aluminum cross flow radiator is included, and w/ the electric fan never got above 195 degrees in traffic. Based on the previous engines condition.
-Currently has a B & M Quicksilver shifter w/ cable and shifter brackets for the trans. Will be included if an automatic trans. is to be installed.
-Modified (shortened) driveshaft w/ new yokes for the rear diff. and new u-joints. The shaft was also balanced after the work was completed.
-The steering column, while removed for detailing, is in complete working order. It’s missing on mounting bolt/nut where it attaches to the underside of dash.
-New tach. installed on the steering column. All wiring is color coded for ease of re-connection.
-Front pair of Centerline 3 ½” x 15” wheel (no tires) that nave never been installed are included. They have the 4 x 4” Vega bolt pattern.
-Rear wheels have new tires (205/70R/14) on powder coated 6” x 14” steel wheels w/ OEM 64-65 Chevelle hub caps. The currently installed rally wheels/tires are also included.
Basically, the buyer would need to install their engine/trans. add a few small parts, detail the engine compartment to taste and drive the car.
Now for the obligatory BS.
The car will not be parted out. The car does not run, nor can you drive it home. The buyer will need a trailer and friends to help haul it, and the parts away. The car is currently garaged, and the title is clean, and current until April 2023 and it’s in my name. The car is an original blue-plate car, not Y.O.M. BTW-I did not just buy this car yesterday and trying to flip it today, at a profit. I’m just trying to get most of what I’ve invested back out of it. I’ve come to the realization that I’m tired of building cars, spending a ton of time underneath them, rather than in them, driving and enjoying the experience. I’m not interested in any kind of trade. Please be serious, let’s not waste each other's time, blah, blah, blah, you know the drill. The car and all the associated parts are being sold without any warranty expressed or implied. I’m not going to tell the buyer what a GREAT deal this is. Only the potential buyer can make that determination. I’ve tried to be as honest as I know how to be about what I know regarding this car. If the aforementioned info. does not answer your question(s), or you want to view the car, feel free to give me a CALL. Any emails, texts (the ph. # is a landline) or any other forms of communication received, will not be answered. Let's do this the old-fashioned way by talking to each other. I can be reached at (6-one-nine) too-7-five-5-ate-eight-won. It’s a business #, so if I’m not in, please leave a message that you’re calling about the car and I WILL get back to you. Thanks for reading all this jazz and for considering the car. The price is O.B.O. BTW- I DON’T NEED ANY HELP SELLING OR LISTING THIS VEHICLE.
