Vehicle Description
1980 Jeep CJ7

• Exterior Color: Blue-Green Metallic (original color is Light Blue, color code: OJ, only produced for one year)
• Odometer: 60,860 (real mileage probably 160,860)
Engine:
• 4-cyl Iron Duke 151 (Gasoline)
Drivetrain:
• Transmission: 4-speed manual + reverse SR4
• Transfer case: Dana 300 (4WD)
Axles: Dana 30 front, AMC 20 rear
Seating Capacity: 4
Front Seat Type: High back vinyl with 3 point seatbelts
Rear Seat Type: Fold and tumble with lap belts
Tires: 31” mud
Brakes: disc in front, drum in rear

Installed Summer 2021:
New battery (purchased 1/15/2022)
New front and rear seats
New 3 point seat belts in front, lap belts in rear
New transmission oil (Amsoil Syncromesh GL4)
New engine oil and filter
New fuel filter
New fuel sender unit
New master clutch and slave clutch cylinders
New tie rod and ball joints
New drag link and ball joints
New engine belts (no squeal!)
New brake lights
New turn signal lenses
New hard top window struts
It comes with the following:
1. Full original hardtop (these are hard to find individually and go for about a grand)
2. 4” leaf spring lift kit with oil shocks, drop pitman arm, and quick release sway bar disconnects
3. Bestop soft top with the doors
4. Bikini top
5. Front tow bar with tow lights and hardware, ready to be towed
6. Two red metal jerry cans (rust free on the inside)
7. Warrier Adventure rear rack ($540 new). Both jerry cans mount to this
8. Technical Service Manual and Supplement – 1000s of pages of how-tos
9. Yellow halogen light caps and a box of random accessories and hardware.
I don’t BS so here is what doesn’t work:
• Radio speakers (radio turns on but speakers don’t produce sound. Haven’t looked into it yet – could be a fuse, could be a loose wire, or could be bad speakers)
• Half of the dash light bulbs are out
• Stock oil and temp gauges don’t work so there are aftermarket ones installed, sometimes the aftermarket oil gauge doesn't click on. Oil pressure is around 40 while running.
• Stock fuel gauge goes from full to around empty when the tank is actually still half full
• Aftermarket tachometer doesn't work
• Clear coat is peeling significantly on the hood after the winter rains - more than in the photo, the jeep needs a new paint job
• Passenger door missing interior door handle
• Windshield wiper reservoir and pump needs replacement. (the wipers themselves work)
• The undercarriage has a lot of surface rust, the tub only has surface rust.
• Body mount bushings are worn
Description
This is a cruiser jeep with the Iron Duke 151 Engine (not to be confused with the AMC 150) and it passes smog. Based on the current drive train and gearing set up, this jeep is set up less for rock crawling and more for cruising around town. The ac system is a simple fan, but the heater cranks on this. Doors on or off, cruising is now more comfortable and safe thanks to the new high back seats and 3-point seat belts. Seats four - the rear seat folds up for more storage space when not in use.
Please note that the 4 cylinder engine is a small engine meant for more fuel economy and easy cruising - it is not punchy like the inline 6, so getting up to 65mph on the freeway is doable (I do it each week), but it means flooring it for about 15 seconds. The SR4 transmission seems to be in fairly good shape - it shifts fine and downshifts into 2nd and 1st gear, but not always into 3rd gear, so the 3rd gear synchros are likely worn. Shifting into reverse right after going forward needs to be double clutched to bring the transmission speed down, otherwise there is some gear grinding. This transmission also has fresh GL4 synchromesh fluid.
The previous owner of 20 years kept this inside a garage in California so one of the most valuable long-term aspects is that there is very little tub rust – some surface rust along the front of the tub and a large rust bubble on the windshield frame. As visible in the photos, the underbody has a lot of surface rust. This jeep also has a full roll cage with custom leather headbanger pads in the front. The winch also works and comes with a 3 pin plug-in controller. The jeep also has a front tow bar and chains and 4-pin tow lights so it is ready to be towed for the long-hauls.
All in all, this is a fun jeep that is an around-town or project-car looking for more love and care from a fellow jeep lover!
$6,500
I have all the paper work from the previous owner’s work and smog tests including over $5,000 of maintenance receipts. Clean title in my name, current registration (2022) and recently smogged.
Serious inquiries only please.
