Hello Craigslist,
I have decided to sell my vintage 1983 Volkswagen rabbit pickup diesel that gets 55 MPG! It has been well taken care of and garaged the majority of it's life. I moved to a mobile home and need to sell a vehicle .It is as close to mint as you can get for an all original 1.6 5 speed eco diesel. It is 40 years old but still looks amazing and turns heads. Most of these are behond glass or very hard to come by. This is a rare daily drivable 55 mpg pickup truck With the matching camper shell and fully loaded for its year. Has a matching camper shell and upgraded tasteful wheels with brand new tires. It is an amzing truck and needs to be seen in person to be appreciated. The value for these trucks go up every year and i'm sad to let it go.
-Options/Equipped:
-German second Gen 1.6 Diesel engine
-Mechanical Fuel Injection with rebuilt pump
-5 Speed eco manuel transmission
-upgraded original bumper Package
- original snug top Camper shell
-195k Miles
-front wheel drive Independent Front Suspension
-all aluminum 1800 pound light weight unibody
-Brand new Hankook tires
-Bedliner no rust bed
-Beautiful matching Enkei age appropriate classic wheels
-Engine/Drivetrain (10/10)
This truck runs great and has decent pickup for its other worldly efficiency in 1983. It is a blast to drive to your favorite surf spot, and everyone loves it. The motor is tight and doesn't drop a drip of anything, doesn't burn any oil or consume fluids according to my knowledge. It is a very healthy motor. Transmission shifts as it should without any grinds, and has recently been serviced. Drives like it just left the factory.
-Interior(8/10): Leather and comfortable.
The interior is where you can start to see the age of the truck. This is because everything is original except for the stereo. It still has the original bucket seats, uncracked dash, and all pieces are present. Has original carpet and original dash. Overall if is very nice and comfortable, and is a blast to sit in/drive.
-Body(9/10):
The body is extremely straight for it's age. This truck turns heads all the time. With the factory color matching campershell, wheels, and rarity it's a pleasure to drive around town, and you can drive it as much as you want because of the economy. With a good wash and wax it really is mint looking. Has decent bumpers and all parts are present. Doors, tailgate and hood open and close. All lights work as they should.
The only way to truly experience this truck is to come look at it in person. It is one of a kind with the condition it's in. Most of these are completely rusted, crushed, or clapped out. You could buy a clapped out one for about 7k, have the motor/pump built for another 6k, have it painted for another 4k and then spend another 5k on miscellaneous things like wheels and tires and additional interior pieces etc. Or you could purchase mine that has been garaged and cared for most of its life.
