Vehicle Description
I’m probably the 3rd or 4th owner of this car. The guy I got it from in Ventura was great. He got in a trade from a friend of his. This was sort of a fun, drive around town kind of thing, not me buying to flip or modify. I don’t know how to do any of that. No burn outs or donuts, just a nice change of pace. I’ve had this car for probably 2 months? Realized I’m in no place to do 2 cars and also realized I simply don’t need it.
The car drives great as far as I can tell. Took it to my local shop Ive been taking my other car to for years and he gave me a pretty clean bill of health, minus the small issues and other cosmetic changes done by previous owners and due to the cars age of course. I think if you’re shopping for one of these you’ll know what has been changed and what you’re looking at. If you don’t, here ya go:
Here’s what I know and what I was informed upon purchasing it. I’m ending these with question marks simply because I’m not even sure I know what I’m talking about.
-Car was repainted, I’m assuming the same dark bronze color?
-Had corsa exhaust added. * A piece from the exhaust mount near the muffler needs to be welded back to secure* the car can still drive.
-New headliner was put in.
- The display/dash was reconfigured or replaced to make right, I think a couple times.
- The driver and passenger side mirrors were replaced with some from another corvette?
-There is a “sys” light on in the dash.
-The drivers side door lock needs a small part as the locking mechanism does not work. You can put the key in and turn from side to side but it won’t engage the lock. You have to unlock the car from the passengers side. All the locking “sliders” inside the car do work.
-I had problems with the aftermarket radio not turning off when I was leaving the car so I would unplug it when I left the car. Sometimes the “cabin” lights would stay on once I’d leave the car, I’d have to close the door a couple times to make sure they’d stay off. I think it’s most likely the drivers side keyhole still passing electricity. I haven’t turned it in a week or two and the lights are turning off now every time.
-it survived the recent rain but realistically most of the weather stripping needs to be replaced.
-drivers side panel door is on there only by a few screws, but it’s on there.
-A part from one of the the headlight motors wasn’t working properly but the previous owner helped me fix it when I bought it. It works now.
-There is a small wooden piece attached under the hood up at the windshield…. I was told a previous owner bought the wrong wipers and to prohibit the wipers from coming into the hood, a stop piece was installed. Strange but functional….
-I believe the previous owner did tell me the car was maybe lifted slightly in some way?
-clearly the drivers side seat is worn
-I never even used the AC or heat, but both work.
The car starts right up. All the gauges end up in the right place. No sounds or anything. No overnight leaks. Oil is clear. I do believe the previous owner who is much more of an enthusiast than myself really did sell me a good one despite the issues above that could definitely be fixed with someone with a little time and patience. I filled it up maybe 4 times? I paid what I paid and am most likely going to be accepting a loss :) You can come look in Santa Barbara. Thanks
