Vehicle Description
For sale (or barter) is my 1996 Lincoln Mark VIII.
It has 109,000 carefully driven miles (107,000 of those miles were in California). This car has never seen snow/salt.
I purchased this Mark VIII in April so my adult autistic son and I would have a "Muscle Car" we could afford (so we could go to car shows as he loves old muscle cars).
This has the 280 hp 4.6 L V8 "Intech Engine" (this is the first "Cobra Engine", before it was put into Mustangs later in the 90's). The car is very clean, and has no rust. The engine is clean and there are no leaks (it was just inspected at Wikstrom Lincoln in Barrington, IL). It has a brand new windshield. The interior is clean and there are no rips in the leather seats (which are soft to the touch still).... and the carpets also were recently cleaned. The Air Bags have been replaced with coil overs. The car is sitting low, but I have extra (Brand New) springs that would have the car sit higher... and those will come with the car. The rear brakes are new (pads and rotors). The tires are new (less than 2,000 miles on them) and all match plus they come with Discount Tire "certs" (Road Hazard insurance, that does transfer to the new owner), & 4 wheel alignment. Everything works.
Stock JBL AM/FM Cassette & amp with 10 CD Changer stereo still sounds incredible. I actually use a cassette adapter to connect my cell phone to the stereo (and I use Google Maps and Pandora piped through that connection... so it acts like an infotainment system). And with the JBL amp and JBL speakers, the stereo sounds incredible. I had put a 2 din NAV unit in the car in May, and it didn't sound as good... so I put the original stereo back into the car. There are no issues with the blend door, the A/C works along with the Heater and Defrost. The information center works. For some reason, I cannot get the "brake light" internal lite to turn off (the Lincoln Dealership went through the brakes with a fine toothed comb, replaced the rear rotors/pads, and found no problems).
The reason why I am selling this Mark VIII, is because I found (again, in California) an even cleaner 1995 with 76,000 miles that actually has a working (and non leaking) air ride suspension..... if you have ever driven a Mark VIII - the Air Ride is just superior (in my opinion). The new Mark also had the paint color I actually wanted. Given the lower miles, it serves my needs for a longer time period. So I went and bought that one. So - there is no reason for me to have two Mark VIII's sitting in my driveway.
This is one of the nicest Mark VIII's in the midwest. It is all original, and is an excellent example of a survivor. The car runs great.
If you require an inspection, I am open to having one done as I already had one done after I had bought the car. Any inspection will be done at your cost though. Or bring a mechanic.
Most of the pictures are from when I purchased the Mark VIII (taken at Huntington Beach, CA, Grand Canyon, AZ, and the rear pictures are from yesterday). The last picture shows this 96 Lincoln parked behind my 95 Lincoln (that I am keeping).
I am looking for $3,995 or best offer (I recently lowered the price $500).
Low ball offers will be ignored. Any Mark VIII aficionados will know this car's value, and how hard it is to find an excellent running example in the Midwest - let alone anywhere within the US that has low miles, rnns good, and that hasn't been exposed to road salt.
