Vehicle Description
MAKE: VW
MODEL: CABRIO GLS CONVERTIBLE
YEAR: 2000
MILEAGE: ~91K
EXTERIOR: Silver with black convertible top (see pics)
INTERIOR: Black/leather (see pics)
IDEAL for someone who can easily fix up the car or get discount work done on it. If ad is up, car is still available.
THE GOOD:
- Fairly low mileage (~91k)
- 4 NEW TIRES - $500 value + alignment fee (Can sell car w/o them for $800 if you just want car for its parts)
- 2019 Registration has been paid
- Cosmetically, the interior is in great condition and the exterior is great except for the tape I put on soft top
- Installed brand new battery on 7/19/17 for $160 (have paperwork)
- I am 2nd owner - I bought it GOLD certified from Boardwalk Volkswagen in Redwood City
THE BAD: These may be simple fixes (fuse etc) but I don’t have the time/knowledge to fix:
- AC not working; Heat works but only on high
- Passenger window doesn’t come down (all others work fine)
- Radio not working - it just stopped right after I washed the car a few wks ago (Fuse?)
- Car’s front window got nicked and will eventually, need replacing - tape working fine, so no urgency.
- Soft top needs to be stitched/glued? together at back seam ... or you can replace it. It just opened up at seam all across the back and I’ve just held it together with lots of black tape for over 2yrs (you can see it in photo)
- 2019 Smog needs to be done but registration was paid (engine light came on, so need to check before smog)
- Glove compartment latch is broken (I can’t open glove box - key goes in easily but doesn’t open it)
- Someone tried to pick the trunk's lock and now it’s loose (but still locks the trunk)
THE UGLY:
- Needs used/new transmission - car starts fine but will not move forward much even when you floor accelerator - so do NOT expect to drive it until you replace transmission.
I am only considering selling because I can’t afford to pay for transmission. Honestly, I can live w/all the rest of its issues - it's such a fun car to drive and I love it.
SERIOUS ONLY PLEASE. CASH ONLY. This is obviously not for everyone but I think a mechanic can easily fix this car up and drive it for another 100K+ miles. At worst, sell tires and a few parts and make back the money.
