Vehicle Description
2003 Mercury Sable, Special Edition, with moon roof and relatively low miles at 114,000. I'd prefer to keep this car, as it has been a good car for me, but my reason for selling is that my Mom died recently and I inherited her newer car. This Sable has certain issues with it and some cosmetic damage, but, overall, it is a good running and comfortable driving car. Below, is a description of all its issues that I can think of and its positive features.
ISSUES: it leaks oil somewhat; I have to put a quart of oil in every 4-6 weeks or so. And it pulls to the right a bit, so to fix that, it needs to have the rear struts and one rear spring replaced before doing an alignment. Those are the two main issues with this car. Other minor issues are that it sometimes idles a bit fast, but that's no big deal, as it is just a sensor issue. The passenger side seatbelt doesn't reliably click. The rear windows aren't rolling down, but it just needs a new fuse for that. The headlights are a bit dim from that frosted look, so those ought to be replaced or wet sanded. It has deer impact damage, on the front, upon inadvertently wasting a deer standing in the road with extreme prejudice, and a few other minor dents and scrapes. Lastly, the cruise control works, but you have to do things a little differently than normal.
POSITIVES: Moon roof; relatively low miles for its year; it runs good; A/C works fine; it drives good (other than that right side pull); it has an oil pan heater plug installed to plug the car in, during the winter, for reliable cold weather starting; it also has an extension cord running into the interior that I used to run an in-cab heater to keep the car relatively warm inside, during the winter; it has new windshield wipers; and I installed a brand new transmission into it, in 2015, which is a big plus. So, you shouldn't have any transmission worries. Lastly, it has an aftermarket "trunk monkey" button installed, to activate that chimp hidden in the trunk whom you can summon to put the smack down on someone when needed.
OK, OK... there's no aftermarket "trunk monkey" button installed.
