Vehicle Description
Special Vehicle Team. In conjunction with Cosworth engineering these cars got their own pistons, rods, cylinder head design, long tube header, 2 stage intake manifold and 2 1/4" stainless exhaust. The resulting 170HP was mated to a Getrag 6 Speed manual transmission and to actually make the car a formidable competition machine massive 300mm front and 280mm rear brakes were fitted. I love these cars! So much actually that I have the worlds largest collection of SVT Focuses and I've only got 8 stalls in my Barn and 10 cars I'd like to put away so this is one of 2 cars I'm offering up for sale. (The other is my 2004 Roush Focus) This particular 5 Door SVT I recently had shipped in from southern Tennessee with a blown engine. I had a really decent engine waiting for a new home and this was it! The Chassis has 153K and underneath there is only surface rust on the bare frames. So solid! Drives good, no squeaks, clunks or rattles. Could use a set of tires, the previous owner wasn't good at rotation.
I swapped the Engine and trans in as a unit from a car with 133K miles. The previous owner of that car stated it was a new engine but I'm thinking that he only had the head redone and spent somewhere between 1500-2000 on dealership repairs and thought he got more than he did so I will not lay claims like he did. I can see that the head has been off so my guess is valve job, resurface, head gasket and timing belt and tensioner. It does really run excellent the compression was a consistent 120-125 all down the line. If you are familiar with SVTs you'll know that is right in spec, even with 10.8-1 compression, the aggressive factory cam overlap keeps the cranking compression numbers down. The clutch was definitely replaced and I believe it is a stage II based on the pedal feel (I have driven over 60 of these cars).
If you've ever wanted one of these great handling great looking Focuses don't settle for a rusty Wisconsin version that you can't even do a rear alignment and is on the verge of blowing a brake line!
Call my shop, On Track Auto, any time between 8A-8P and see if we can get you a test drive. Not interested in lowball offers, 99% not interested in trades but those I will at least entertain-but only if it feels lopsided in my favor. Nothing I really need besides a Larger Storage Spot!!
Thanks,
Matt
