Here's a 2012 Subaru Forester 2.5x Premium, the all-wheel-drive SUV which, as Autoblog says, drives more like a car than an SUV. This shiny specimen in Red Pearl has 122k miles, but we replaced its engine. Under the hood now is a 2014 engine with 92k miles. Then we gave it a 500 mile+ test to monitor oil consumption and to check out all the systems . and it has passed the test.

This Premium higher trim level means 17-inch alloy 10-spoke wheels, a 10-way power driver's seat, tilt and telescoping steering column, a height-adjustable passenger seat, a two-tone beige cloth interior with heated front seats, windshield wiper deicers, a panoramic power sunroof with generous dimensions, rear seats that recline (!), dark tint rear privacy glass, and for the back seat, a fold-out food/beverage tray and armrest (see photos).

Steering wheel Bluetooth and audio control switches offer hands-free phone connectivity and music streaming. It also offers iPod capability, as well as both a USB port and 1/8" audio jack in the center console.

Set of 4 Michelin Defender tires are close to new with 7 to 8/32" tread.

This model was a Top Safety Pick for 2012 by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. It comes with six airbags, including side-curtain ones, brake assist systems, active front head restraints, and Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) for stability and traction control. This monitors the direction of the car compared to the intended steering direction, and compensates by braking individual wheels and/or altering fuel flow to the engine.
