Vehicle Description
I have a fully customized RV built out of a 1972 Deuce and a Half. It is in good to excellent condition. Closer to good than excellent. Runs and drives great. Just drove it cross country and slept in it everyday. Sleeps 2-4. Has mini-stainless steel induction oven, s/s microwave, excellent heat, working air conditioning (cold). I installed a/c in the cab portion myself, which actually is cold. I upgraded the cab roof to fiberglass from canvas. Whole truck runs 24v or 110v or 220v using a Dometic-type interface I sourced from European MAN truck in combination with an American tour bus adapter, actually has multi-voltages. Has onboard honda generator built in a slide out rack with I think about 1500 hours on it, working great, blackwater tank, 75 gallon freshwater tank, very narrow standup shower with a pump plumbed to fresh water. Hot water currently not working. Simple fix on that. Harbor Freight solar panels covering the entire roof, built in RV toilet with cartridge system. Actually a totally self-contained extremely reliable off-road vehicle. Has 10 matching Michelin off-road tires on the the original size upgrades heavy duty rims, not dangerous split rims as original. Upgraded dual circuit brake system from a Freightliner. NOT EFFICIENT ON FUEL. Air assist drum brakes all around. Give yourself time to stop! Gets about 7 miles per gallon. 6-wheel drive works. Needs an alignment. I was quoted $1,000 to do that. Alignment pull is not too bad, but definitely pulls to the right to some extent, starting to wear out front tires. Exactly one spot of rust on the entire rig the size of a palm, on the bed. Any other once existing rust (of which there was never much) was fixed, properly, a long time ago, with metal. You can drive this cross country, today, no problem. Available to see starting this Monday Jan 17 at 7am and also available Wednesday Jan 19 in San Gabriel, and then must sell this coming week. I AM MOVING OVERSEAS! Must sell. It's been my heart and soul this rig. $5k is nothing for everything I've put into it. I think I must have invested $50,000 over the last 10 years, haven't really kept track. the living space is insulated. Looks really nice. Truly just a good deal looking to be sold fast. FIRM. I just don't want to give it away to someone. That's actually would I would end up doing under most circumstances but it's too big of a rig just to give away. I think you could re-sell it for $6,000 if you find you are sinking too much money into it if you are on a tight budget. Then again if you are on a tight budget don't buy something that gets 7 mpg LOL. I just absolutely need to sell it by the end of the week. Please drop me a line with your contact information and give me a sense of why you want to buy this deuce and tell me about how you've come to know what you are getting into! I am a single 40 year old guy with professional welding and mechanical experience so I was able to build this rig over years from scratch using a very, very solid baseline deuce. This RV is for a particular kind of person, even just to maintain. You have to know what the F you're getting into basically. If you aren't comfortable driving a truck, then move on.this is not for you. Thanks for your interest. My name is Tom. Glad to speak to you on the phone or do video calls for out of state buyers.
*UPDATE:
I have a lot of memories in my rig especially at Burning Man. But with couple years since BM being on I am basically worn out. It is like Burning Man would recharge my life batteries. I am very big into the whole culture not just while at BM but also try to be a very giving person. I am not perfect but I when it comes to the BM principles I am pretty much live by that. The deuce is a great Burner vehicle in many ways. Like me it's not perfect but close to it! ;-) Like I said when you write to me do not neglect to tell me why you want this deuce RV and hown mech skilled you are.
*Update #2
If the ad is still up, I still have it. I am not selling it until this Monday at the earliest for the simple reason that I am NOT AVAILABLE until Monday. Thank you!
*Update #3
I am getting complaints about not having enough pictures. I will post good pictures on Monday when I am meeting with people, will take pics also of interior. It looks good though so nothing to worry about there. Front seat was recovered and has numerous "new" splits in material but is usable.
