Vehicle Description
1928 International SF-34 1 ?-ton Grain Truck ?Collector owned and Professionally restored in 2008 ?Survivor truck that originally hauled grains ?Rare 1920?s large International truck ?Shop-kept at Creekside Farm in Yorkville, Illinois ?Owned for more than 40 years ?Black engine and cowl; green wooden grain bed ?Lycoming four-cylinder engine ?Three-speed sliding gear manual transmission ?Original glass ?Driving lights ?8,533 GVWR and 140-inch wheelbase Even in the late 1920s, trucks remained firmly as working vehicles ? on farms, for tradesmen, laborers and deliverymen; creature comforts and lifestyle trucks were decades away. This example, one of International?s SF-34 1.5-ton models, was professionally restored in 2008 and this Binder was owned for 40 years and shop-kept at Creekside Farm in Yorkville, Illinois. Finished in black with a green grain box, the truck?s paint and trim are in overall good shape. The truck retains its original glass and its body is straight and solid. A pair of driving lights replaces the usual headlights. Out back is a green, wooden bed used to haul grain. A Boyce MotoMeter adorns the top of the radiator. There?s a driver?s side windshield wiper but dual taillights. A full-sized spare tire hangs below the grain bed. This truck rolls on Firestone Gum-Dipped, High-Speed tires, size 6.50-20. They are mounted on red, metal, artillery-style wheels. The wheels are in very good order while the tires are in good, original order. The truck has a 140-inch wheelbase and a 8,533 GVWR. Under the hood is a Lycoming four-cylinder engine mated to a three-speed, sliding gear manual transmission. Inside, the black bench seat is in great condition. A wooden headliner rests above the driver?s head and there?s a four-spoke steering wheel with a wooden rim. The black inner door liners and dashboard are all in very good order. There are Stewart Warner gauges in the dash and a floor-mounted shifter and handbrake but the speedometer and fuel gauge are inoperable. Competition to this Binder in 1928 included Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge, GMC 1.5-ton models.
