THESE VEHICLES ARE LOCATED ON PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND * What you see here is a very nice and original 1946 Ford F1 - One Ton Pickup Truck; very rare. Unrestored - except for a refreshed paint job - this 1946 Ford 1 ton has known only two owners to this day. As the current owner states "Every nut and bolt in that truck is what she came with" and "In them days we would spray em down with oil underneath every year to keep em good" This truck was purchased new by Mr. William Franchvillein Antigonish of Nova Scotia for $1500 and was ordered as a 1 Ton with the standard 1/2 ton pick up bed. Though the 1 ton is rare already almost all of them were flat beds or utility trucks. Mr. Franchville and his wife owned this truck for forty years. We are told It was there pride and joy for all of that time until his death when it was properly stored for the next 20 plus years. The truck is still remembered by the older folk in the New Brunswick town they lived in. This 1946 F1 pickup was ordered as a V8 100 hp flathead with dual water pumps and hydraulic steering, with 17" wheels, dual wipers and locking steering wheel. Only the battery has been changed. The front and rear bumpers have had a beautiful piece of Honduras mahogany added to them as was the fashion then as well as the bed. This truck has never seen anything but love and we offer it without excuse! Though it was repainted many years ago it was done only to freshen the look. This truck has never seen rust or repair. The pride and passion that both owners have had for this truck is evident. Mr. Franchville was not a wealthy man when he returned from the war and spent all his savings on this truck which provided him with great pleasure for the next 4 decades. To take possession of this truck is to take on the responsibility of that same level of care.
