Vehicle Description
1948 MG TC: Full Restoration All it takes is one drive in this 1948 MG TC to show why these British sports cars revolutionized the affordable sports car market in the post-WWII era. Quick, open cockpit, manual transmission and wonderful styling—they had it all! Restored and Pampered This 1948 roadster is a unique car: Of the 10,001 made only about 1900 came to the US; Same family ownership since the 70's; Right hand drive—the only way they were made; Dependable 1,250cc 4-cylinder ohv engine; 4-speed transmission; Excellent repaint in Burgundy; Wonderful leather interior; Starts at the press of the starter; and Stops straight and true. Excellent from Top to Bottom The color-change re-spray of this TC in Burgundy is nicer than its debut in the MG showroom. The color contributes to the elegance and sportiness of this MG roadster. The chrome trim is all in excellent condition. The underside of this TC is clean and free from corrosion. The tan convertible top is in excellent condition as are the side curtains, with some minor staining. While most drivers will leave the top down, the TC top goes up with a minimum of effort. Interior: The tan leather interior is clean and fresh-looking, and as one would expect, the upholstery is free of rips, holes or separations. The painted dash with walnut trim are in excellent condition. The gauges all appear to work properly as do the lights, horn and even the clock. The speedometer and tachometer are a bit jerky but otherwise work properly. The windshield wipers will need some attention, undoubtedly from lack of use since this car has been garage-kept and probably hasn’t seen rain in the past 50+ years. Engine: The 1,250 cc 4-cylinder engine overhead cam engine is rated at 54.5 hp and produces all the power you will need in this little sports car. At the touch of the starter the engine comes to life and ready for a spin on a curvy road or a turn at the track. Transmission: The 4-speed manual transmission works smoothly and properly. Brakes: The hydraulic brakes on the TC—just rebuilt--bring it to a quick halt without pulling from side to side. Luxury and other features This MG will please the most discerning buyer: Great paint Like-new convertible top Tan leather interior True knock-off wire wheels Like-new tires A Great Example of MGs Post-War Sports Car There is one word that can best describe this 1948 convertible: WOW! Great paint, excellent upholstery, rebuilt engine and transmission: all of which make this classic TC an enjoyable car to drive as well as a sound investment.
