1955 Chevrolet BelAir Tri five cars have always been popular but make it a wagon or convertible and their desirability goes through the roof. This 55 Chevrolet Convertible is an absolutely gorgeous car and was one of the most well built ones we have seen. We are selling it on behalf of the builder and cannot complement him enough on the quality of his work. Anybody can just order stuff out of a catalogue and bolt it on a car but he went the extra step and really planned and thought out every single detail. It is an original Bel Air convertible but has been transformed into an beautiful restomod that has tastefully done customizations throughout. The body of the car is lazer straight and donor car was used in the build to make sure all of the factory steel panels are perfect. It is painted in a custom Blue with Lexus Pearl White backhalf. The Blue color really pops and makes the car stand out from other Blue/White combo cars out there. The chrome and stainless is all in excellent condition throughout with a mirror like finish. The power top was redone with Mercedes material in a Dark Blue. You see most of these with the standard Black top but the Dark Blue creates a nice contrast and works with the overall look perfectly. From the outside the paint and American Racing wheels are the only thing that indicate it may not be stock but you start looking closer at the car and all of the tasteful customizations start to reveal themselves. For instance, take a peak under the car and you will see a lot of the undercarriage components like the chassis was completely repainted in an Indigo Blue with clear coat which matches the top. This creates a very nice clean look that is very worthy of showing off with mirrors at shows. The new floor pans were then done in the same Blue as the body. This theme is found throughout the car and is really something special. Under the hood of this classic is a 327 V8 that has been bored 40 over. The excellent features are just as present under the hood as every where else. It isn't a motor that just had chrome valve covers and a chrome air cleaner bolted on. Not only was the motor well built but every single inch including the surrounding compartment was done to be show ready. Something very cool that shows the level of detail are things like the inner fenders, radiator and radiator support. It is an aluminum cross flow radiator but was painted to match the firewall and body of the car. The inner fenders and support were then painted a darker Blue to match the top and undercarriage components. This not only creates an awesome looking engine compartment but was specifically done so when you look through the grill with the hood close you just see darkness. Planned out things like that speak to the level of professionalism and quality of the builder. On the motor you see a ton of chrome as well as an Endurashine 2-4 intake topped with 550 cfm Edelbrock carbs. The internals of the motor include a Comp Big Mother Thumper Cam and Jahns pistons with 11:1 compression. The transmission is a Muncie M21 4 speed that shifts smoothly with no issues and utilizes an 11" Center Force clutch and aluminum flywheel. The rear end is an Auburn 10 bolt posi with 3:36 gears so it runs around town and down the highway well. The brakes have all been redone with Wilwood disc brakes under all four and a CPP master cylinder. The suspension was entirely redone and so was the wiring with an American Auto Wire harness. Something that you don't see done very often is that the complete exhaust system (from motor to rear bumper) has been ceramic coated. Being a frame off restored car you won't find a single area of it untouched. What results is an absolutely beautiful car that runs and drives like new. The interior upholstery is finished out in a Indigo Blue and White combo. The material and stitching is in amazing shape and the bench seats comfortable. The Hurst shifter is routed through the floor and a custom center console was built to provide cupholders and a mounting point for the Classic AC/Heat vents. Additional vents were inset into the dash which features a combination of stock and custom components. The knobs and trim pieces are original but a Custom Auto Sound vintage style stereo was added along with the Dakota Digital gauges and clock. The stereo is very cool because although it looks original it delivers a great sound with the added amp and also features a 6 CD changer. The trunk is nicely upholstery as well and houses a custom bowtie logo battery cutoff. We can't describe enough how beautiful this car is. The pictures came out great but the car is still probably even more eye catching in person. It is the builders pride and joy and to be honest he wouldn't even consider selling it if it weren't for some recent health issues. This is the type of car most people would hold onto so get it while it is still available!
