The Sunbeam Alpine was a British sports car produced by the Rootes Group from 1953-1955, and from 1959-1968. This is a 1967 Series V GT (detachable hard top) that produced 100 horsepower. The Alpine Series V became the Sunbeam Tiger, co-designed by Carrol Shelby (of AC Cobra fame), with the use of a Chrysler, then Ford 4.3L V8. Although twice as powerful as the Alpine, the Tiger was only about 20% heavier.This particular Alpine was substantially customized by its talented builder who has built and sold over 100 cars, including Austin-Healeys modified with American V8 engines. For this car he used a highly modified 215-220 horsepower Chevy 4.3L V6. It sports a high-rise Edelbrock intake manifold (necessitating the large hood scoop). A late-model GM chassis was adapted to fit the body. The undercarriage is absolutely spotless; there is less than 200 miles on this car since it was completed.The car is equipped with: new high-performance tires/wheels, tuned dual exhaust, electric fan with aluminum radiator, 10-bolt GM Positraction rear-end, 3-speed GM automatic transmission, front disc brakes with drums in the rear, and iconic 1954 Chevy tail lights.
