A collector’s dream The stunning 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SE Cabriolet featured here is finished in classic Silver Grey Metallic over a blue leather interior and black folding convertible top. While the exterior cosmetics have benefited from a concours level restoration, the interior leather presents as original as does the undercarriage where factory inspection markings and very seldom seen factory cosmoline is observed. In our 30 plus years in business we do not believe we have ever seen another 280SE Cabriolet with its original cosmoline on the underside (a feature that adds to the exceptional condition of this vehicle). The accompanying data card from the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center verifies that the numbers matching engine and highly desirable floor shift automatic transmission are still in place. A mere 52,367 miles are present on the odometer; a number that is strongly believed as original considering this vehicle’s condition and matching numbers status. This stunning 280SE Cabriolet is accompanied by its owner’s manual, tool kit, jack, previous registrations and more. With stunning factory colors, excellent condition and matching numbers this 280SE Cabriolet is sure to make an excellent investment and will certainly bring many years of enjoyment to its future caretaker. History of the Mercedes-Benz 280SE Cabriolet Mercedes-Benz’s elegant Paul Bracq-designed W111 made its debut in 1959 and was produced in many variations through 1971. Among the most desirable variations were the two-door models, the 280 SE Cabriolet and Coupe, which in the great tradition of German craftsmanship, were virtually hand-built automobiles. The acres of wood trim throughout the interior were all genuine solid hardwood, accented by the gentle use of brightwork; the leather upholstery was thick and comfortable; and both the ride quality and handling were (and continue to be) superb. Perhaps unsurprisingly, these cars rapidly became favorites of international socialites and celebrities, and they were frequently seen cruising in all of the world’s most posh destinations. Just less than 1,400 280SE Cabriolets were assembled from 1968-1971. Their rarity, performance, handling, craftsmanship are all blended perfectly into a design that has become iconic. It is no wonder why the 280SE has become one of the most recognized classic Mercedes-Benz models sought-after by collectors today. Trades welcome! Financing available.
